I enjoyed your poem.
The boldness of the presentation is very effective. Would I be right in thinking that the red background represents the 'bloody victories?'

    Dear Debra, Yes, the red background represents bloody victories, I tried to use Advanced Editor for red, white and blue patriotic colors, but I had trouble with it, so I just have red and white, thank you for your comments and review. Best to you, Dove
