Wow, Yvonne, that was amazing. The poem was a delight to read, ants are incredible insects, and I thank God for knowing that had they been made larger they would be running the world! (Probably better than we do!)
Then the rhyme scheme, not only did you rhyme the 1st and 3rd lines, and the 2nd and 4th, you went on to blow our minds with rhyming every first word of each stanza!!!!! How on earth did you manage to get them so perfectly matched to rhyme? It must have taken you ages! This was a masterpiece and brilliant writing! Well done, this should be the poem of the month!! You clever lady! Warm hugs and much love! Sandra xxxx

This is a terrific double lento, and your subject material is spot on. While ants are best outside, not a fan of the inside the house ants, there is much to be admired about their entire system of colonization.

They work together and get enormous amounts of work done.

Very well done indeed. :)

Ants are so fascinating.
Their work ethic is quite admirable!
I don't mind them outside...but my goodness,
they give me fits when they come in, ha ha.
Loved this delightful poem!
Blessings...

Me, too. I love watching them . . . outside! Every spring when they start to come in just before I have the house sprayed for them, there would masses on the kitchen counter. My son said he felt like a mass murderer. lol.
reply by Irish Rain on 16-Apr-2021
YES!!! The kitchen counter!! I had them bad year before last, and I scrubbed everything down with dish detergent/water...and squirted pure dish detergent into all cracks, crevices...they haven't come back. 'Course...if the house ever catches fire and the firemen spray the kitchen...they'll be bubbles all over the state. I used a couple bottles, ha ha.

Hahahaha. That's so funny. I had the house sprayed around the foundation outside, and it works. But this time, I saw some in the kitchen again and traced them back to an electrical socket where I turn on the disposal. I sprayed around that, and haven't had anymore. They're tricky little critters.

I am not familiar with Lento poetry. There seems to be quite a few requirements, which you have met effectively, in this double lento piece. Additionally, your poem tells a story of how efficient the ants are in gathering food. Rhythm flows well An enjoyable read. Great job.

This style of poetry looks challenging to me. I've never written poem with rhymes at the front! Your poem is really excellent--skillfully written, so creative, entertaining, and amusing.

Hello Yvonne.

I am not a Lanto writer. The story in the poem is about those incredible crawlers. If I could lift the amount of weight by ratio I could "pick up a pickup." They can lift hundreds of times their own weight.

I've heard that. I've seen them carrying some sizable things given their size, so it must be true. Thanks, Robert.

This is a clever solution to the difficult demands of this convoluted formform . I thought this was really well done. What made you think of ants in the first place?

I don't know. You know my goofy mind. It comes up with some of the strangest things. Thank you for a great review. It was fun to write.

Holy cats gal! I don't know how you could even understand the instructions for this. Too complicated for me, but it looks like you pulled it off. While I personally despise ants, they are nonetheless very industrious creatures. Lord knows what a mess we would have to live with if we didn't have nature's janitors cleaning up the mess. Nice job.

Thanks for the encouragement. Once I get a little more time on this site I might give it a try. Right now I really like the flash fiction and a chance to tell stories.

Great job! This is a challenging format of poetry and you managed to nail it! Clever and funny! I enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing! I have to admit at first I thought the ants were getting into pants since you were bent over!
