This is a strong metaphor. Nice work. You have used a good parallel here. I really like your fourth verse. I began to see a different level of meaning here. You gave the reader a nice surprise. You had their thoughts going in a certain direction, then flipped it all. Clever.

I got a 4 from someone because he didn't like my genre. I'm not sure what he thinks the genre is. I don't even know...oh, maybe I should ask him...bwaaa...I have actually had someone give me a 3. They acted like it was hurting them more than me. I get angry thinking WHY would they want to red such a terrible chapter???

I like to nail 3 or 4 star givers. I go to their portfolio and review their writing. I treat it as if I were a teacher being neutral. I give them the respect I give all.
I was all set to review Mr. 3 stars writings and he has written NOTHING yet! I have found that with a couple 3 or 4 star givers. Maybe if they realize how that hurts they might be kinder. If people post anything they make themselves vulnerable.

A fine tribute to a single parent and especially Dad's who are probably not used to the finer techniques of bringing up children, not saying they don't do a fine job though. It is a struggle for single parents, you champion their plight here, much enjoyed Leann, love Dolly x

Thank you. I chose to focus on fathers in this poem because I happen to know a handful personally who are raising children with no help at all from the mother. I don't think they get near enough support. Thank you for your review and comments. Hugs.

How I wish that the site wouldn't limit the number of sixes that could be awarded. As you might suspect, I'm all out or you'd be getting one from me for this poem. I just finished reading another poem that was almost the exact opposite of this one and the difference couldn't be more stark. Thanks for recognizing those on the front lines doing their best against the odds, trying to lead their families and set the good example. Well done.
