This spiritual poem, The Beauty of Gospel Music, uses all the required words and reminds us what it is, beyond praising God, that we love about the music that helps us do so.

As a Gospel music lover, I enjoyed reading your poem. There are so many beautiful songs out there to listen to. I love the old hymns because there is so much truth in the words, and I also like Southern Gospel. Even when we are not listening, we find the words running over in our hearts, words that help us worship and praise the Lord.

It is indeed music to the soul, and you have incorporated all the words smoothly, in a n unforced and relevant way. The rhyme scheme also is effective. Good wishes for your entry.

I enjoyed this as it brought back memories of when I was a teen and plying and singing in a gospel band. I also listened to and enjoyed the professional gospel artists.

As a longtime choir member, I can truthfully say that choir singing saved my life. The time I spent singing in the choir allowed me to indulge a passion I had for singing and the friends I made while singing in the choir lasted me for a very long time. There was a particular young man who stood next next to me was very proud of being accepted in Wayne State University in their musical program. I lost touch with him over the years and decided one day to look him up. Imagine my surprise to find that he had become an international conductor: Doctor Paul Cobbs. He has become so successful that I cannot even reach him. I am however, as proud of him as if he were a member of my own family.

Yes, we sing it to Him anyway. If not, it is all in vain. He says, makes a joyful noise to the Lord. When I sing, I hope He approves because the others turned me off like a radio. Thanks for sharing your nice poem.

Well done, great rhyme and use of required words. We don't hear gospel music much these days. Modern Praise song have taken over in most churches, but my church will often sings an oldie. =] Hope you do well in the contest.

You used the words well in this poem about music and its effect on the soul. I don't think it is only true of gospel music, but all music. Gospel music will make your faith come through and faith takes away fear and brings happiness.
Good luck, keep writing and stay healthy

As a gospel musician, I wrote so many. Most hymns are derived from poetry, in smoothly metered and conventional poetry, Amazing grace is written as 8686 meter, and abcb rhyming, many, many more in 8888 meter and aabb rhyme, as songwriter, I wrote poetry long before I recognised I was someone who wrote like that, Rock of ages in 7777 aabb, check the out! This is beautifully written dear friend, this poem in pentameter and aabb rhyme is perfect for hymn writing, beautifully written, blessings Roy
