This is another stellar posting, Sally. The message is a personal one for all poets and other writers putting themselves into the work they are producing. Sometimes we even create a character who is our ideal--one we are striving hard to move toward being like and might even achieve at some point time. Your poem is short but very thought provoking. Thanks for this encouragement. It is easy to feel that one's work is too humorous, too flippant, not serious enough, not good enough for one reason or another. You are right. I can't be some-one else, nor write like some-one else. Just have to be myself, with all the many facets of my own life and experience. Well written.

I always try to be me, Sally. Yet, sometimes all I see are those with higher money on a poem get the votes for something that is alright. I guess the saying is right, Money talks, BS walks. :) Thank you for sharing.

Yep I agree with you, someone criticised my "old way" of writing here on fanstory, I told him he was being critical of writers that had gone before me, he was most ungracious, it was my poem "Golgotha" which our pastor used as the basis for his Easter Sunday preach, people in our church loved it, but it is still "me", so I agree with you, be grateful God loves us, and made us unique, and complete with warts. Yep I agree with you, someone criticised my "old way" of writing here on fanstory, I told him he was being critical of writers that had gone before me, he was most ungracious, it was my poem "Golgotha" which our pastor used as the basis for his Easter Sunday preach, people in our church loved it, but it is still "me", so I agree with you, be grateful God loves us, and made us unique, and complete with warts.
