This is a very thoughtful essay on the potentially positive aspects of robotic manufacturing, farming, etc. But you are right, we're a long way from reproducing human emotions, but could probably write algorithms for proper responses. It's the downloading of brains, and uploading of data to brains, that really makes me spooked.
