Wow, haven't watched in quite a while but I must agree with you, there is nothing to be made humorous about a murder trial! Geeze!

I figured most would agree that these sort of skits are NOT funny. I posted this at 11:59 p.m., having started writing it at 11:45 as the skit was in process. Thanks for the validation!

I think you should give up on SNL. We have been watching this for weeks and have yet to find it funny. The best part is the news section with Colin Jost. Now we just turn into that portion unless there is a good movie on.
They need better writers.

Mary

I agree with you, nothing funny about a murder trial. SNL seems to have loss its humor. Occasionally, I watched it and found some humor but maybe the topics for skits should be chosen more carefully.

Well, I'm so glad I gave up SNL long before Trump because having to watch Alex Baldwin is a fate worse than death.
Civilization cannot survive without humor, but you need to respect the fine line between funny and sicko. These days, everything is snark sans humor.
I really miss Johnny Carson and Dick Cavett and Jay Leno.

I haven't watched SNL since the beginning of COVID, but I've read that recent shows have been pretty abysmal. If they can't find any humor in Joe Biden, I'd be happy to assist them. They just won't try to satirize him because they like his policies. I agree Alec Baldwin did a great Trump. Doing a skit on a murder trial would not remotely qualify as humor. I'm ahead of you on no longer watching SNL, and I suspect there will be many more dropouts. Great observations. judi

They'll likely do gentle humor on Biden--nothing mean-spirited--I'm curious as to which actor will portray him.

You're. They can hardly avoid bringing Biden up on the show. I think I'll see what I can do with a Biden skit. judi

Liz,
Oh, for the old days of SNL - land shark, the cone heads, and so much more. I used to love the show - but wouldn't watch it now for money. They have - like you said - no boundaries. Thanks!

You are right it's not fun to make fun of a crime, and sometimes televisions thinks that sky is the limit and everything is fair for the seek of ratings. Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writings.

I use to love Saturday Night Live (I had to spell the title out because I don't have much good to say about their humor lately either) I miss the 60's and 70's humor.

I quit watching SNL years and years ago. You are right, Liz. That skit should never have even been written much less aired. You did a great job expressing your thoughts and feelings.
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

I've never been a fan of SNL. I've occasionally seen skits when flipping through channels. One skit made fun of Jimmy Carter's mother and another made fun of Barbara Bush. I did watch news reporting and replays of Tina Fey's impersonation of Alaskan Governor, Sarah Palin. I've never viewed an entire show and therefore agree, Give it up, SNL.
