Yes! I agree, wholeheartedly! The sad picture of a man who appears as the narrator, is it you? The man's face is so sincere and sad and forlorn. It works well with the title, the theme, and the poem. As you say in your author's notes, it doesn't fit the fun, fun, fun category but still, it is written well with good flow, meter, and rhymes, and I love the message so much, that it disheartens me to see it not win the contest on a technicality. But who knows? You might win anyway!
Best wishes and good luck with the contest!
Jesse

Thank you for the great review, Jesse. No, the picture is just one I found on the internet that I thought went well with it. I just about pulled off a win with it but what can you do? Lol. I'm glad you liked my little rant, friend. Thank you again.

I am not a poet, but I did love it. And it says "Anything Goes" so you've met the requirements. i agree that poetry should be dreamy and filled with flowing romantic thoughts no politics and covid news. You've state it clearly and beautifully done. Smiles - Carol

I think a lot of us share your desire to bring back the purity of poetry (and I might even say prose) since it's the sanctity of the heart that we all crave and that's found in the purity of words not ravaged by fear/hate/distrust/ and the pandemic scorecard that the news foments. Good job, Dragonskulls.

Thank you for the fantastic review, Jay. Yeah, I just had to blow off some steam about it. Lol. Yes, prose as well. This was for a poetry contest so I went that rout with it. Hopefully, some day, we'll get back to normal. I really appreciate the generous stars, friend. Have a great rest of your weekend.
