I used to be able to relate to this - definitely was nice to take off work clothes and relax! But now I work from home all the time and half the time I'm in my pajama bottoms. LOL I only need to look good from the waist up.
Thank you for sharing!

That just tickles me to death. My granddaughter does the same thing. I guess, now, probably most people do.

I'm completely with you there, Katharine!
Nothing beats the feeling of releasing yourself from the confines of restrictive clothing and footwear.
I enjoyed your fun little rhyme :)
Best wishes, Debra

Debra, tell me about you. What are some of your favorite things?
unless you'd prefer not.
-
Hi Katharine :) Hope you're well. I'm just on my way to bed (it's 11:25pm here in the UK) but I'll be sure to respond to your lovely enquiry the next time I log in. Sending my best wishes to you, Debra :)
-
I look forward to it.

Hello Katharine :) Hope you have had a good week... I don't know about you, but for me, Friday came at just the right time!
It's a long time since someone asked me tell them about myself (it may well be when I last had an interview, lol) so I'm not sure how to answer! I'm honoured you asked though :)
I'm 46 years old, married to my lovely Shaun for 19yrs and we have a 15yr old son (Ben) and 2 daughters, aged 13yrs (Katie) and 10yrs (Rebecca).
We also have an English Springer Spaniel named Molly and a guinea pig named Toffee.
I work as a teaching assistant in a Catholic primary school (children aged 4-11yrs) and I really love my job.
I have worked in all the different year groups over the past year, as the boy I am employed to work with has been at home shielding since the start of the pandemic. During that time, I have secured a permanent position in school so my job is safe if he doesn't return.
This week I have worked in reception class (4-5yrs) and I have to say, I am shattered this evening!
No rest for the wicked... Katie has a piano lesson in half an hour so I will have to put on my taxi-driver cap!
Aside from my wonderful family, my (current) passion is gardening. We've turned over the top part of our garden to fruit and vegetables and I spend as much time out there as possible - to the detriment of the house, probably!
My other loves are running, cooking and baking and reading and writing. I don't seem to be able to focus on more than one thing at a time - or maybe I just don't have the time to fit everything in!
I think that's me....!
Over to you ;)

Debra - the strangest thing just happened. I was in the middle of answering you - had written quite a bit, and I must've hit a wrong key and the whole page disappeared and when I got it back, my message to you was gone. Now, don't have time to start over but will, later.
Anyway I loved hearing about your lovely family and learning about you and hate to leave this unfinished, but will continue later.

If you can combine running and baking - that's a good combination. One prevents the pounds from the other.
That you have time to write, with all else that you do, is a wonder. But, you're young and from your words, happy, and that makes me smile.
I wish you and your family the best! As for me, I have a daughter - older than you - and a granddaughter, just turned 22. Neither live here, but are only 2 hours away.
My siblings are spread from South Carolina to California - with me in the middle. Haven't seen them in years. But, we talk on the phone and text, of course. I am a widow and stay up half the night writing. I love planting and flowers - but all are in pots around pool and deck. No room for a real garden like yours, which sounds lovely.
Thank you for telling me a bit about yourself. Loving your job and having a happy family can't be beat!
Now, I need to read more of your writing.
Katharine

Before I retired, the first thing I did when I arrived home was kick off my shoes. You nailed it. I didn't actually say "Hooray," but I surely was a happy camper. It's funny. You never thing of other women doing the same things. This made me smile. Thanks for thinking of it.

Now, mainly its' the bra. Don't think I've ever had a comfortable one. One FS gal said her daughter bought her some that she loved. Have asked her for the brand! She said she had it on and couldn't remember. Had to laugh.

Hooray! That is so profound. LOL. Who doesn't love to take off those items? If I can (now that I'm in isolation) I won't bother to put one of those items on. How the H... can you expect to come up with something every day?

mainly, it's how in H... to critique enough posts a day to promote what you think up???? without spending a fortune. 20 cents here 37 there (or points). of course, I didn't think of that when I signed up for this contest. duh!

Wow, I forgot about the member pumps. That's a bit much!

Katharine,
Since I rarely wear shoes anyway I couldn't relate to that part but the bra? Ohhhhhhhh yeah! I detest bras no end. BUT my daughter just bought me the most amazing ones that I can now wear everywhere all the time except to really nice occasions like church services and such. They're like not wearing NOTHING! AMAZING!

OOhhh... Well, obviously, I can't read the one I've got on me. haha But I will try to remember and bring one down to be able to tell you. If you don't hear from me in a day or so, remind me. It's very important that the world knows. ha

One brand is:
Adrienne Vittadini Studio
What I got was Style # 8272
RN # 9D410
90% Nylon 10% Spandex
I think my daughter picked these up at TJMaxx but I'm sure you could try Amazon. I also think the brand I'm currently wearing may be diff. I'll have to get back to you on that. I think they tend to come in sets of two or three, maybe? Good luck. Your life will CHANGE.

Sure!

Lots of fun. I am never without the aforesaid items during the day. One of my brothers goes barefoot a lot, but I never do that. I get the picture of freedom that you're trying to convey. Some shoes and bras fit better than others, so be selective. I can't wear high heels anymore. Happy writing. judi

oh, heavens, high heels have "Gone with the Wind!" Not so much barefoot, but into slippers or comfy sandals. And I have never experienced a comfy bra in my life. Good for you if you have.
Thanks for reading and comments!

You're very welcome. I wear sneakers most of the time. I won't know what to do if I have to put on a regular pair of shoes. judi

This is an excellent short poem, where the repeated feeling of release from the bindings of constricting clothing is very clear. The writing style is very good (precise and pointed, no fluffy words here) and the message is well-presented. I enjoyed it very much. Brain is fine. Short and sweet is good! Love Katherine xx

wow, thank you! You make me feel like a real writer. :)
Today, I'm trying to think how to write in poetry a sad thing from yesterday. Made me realize how lucky I am.
Hope you're doing well and thanks again for such a lovely critique!

Ain't freedom grand, Katherine? As a child of the sixties, I never wear a bra, but I still remove my shoes before going to bed. This is a clever poem, the kind you can be happy with before bedtime, instead of the Haiku type that wakes you at 4 AM, counting syllables. Pleasant dreams ....

Thanks, Jay. Today, I've got to think of a way to write - poetically, about a sad thing I found out yesterday. But after reading other Wri Mo's that were 4-liners, I decided last night, to heck with it.
Thanks again, and happy syllable counting.
Katharine

I hope you find the words you need or a person to share your sadness with, Katharine. Our minds and hearts are constructed to share.

what a lovely thought. Yes, they are. Didn't mean to make it sound like it's about me, but a young person dealt a bad hand.

Lol. Well, we in the north have to layer a lot of clothing even in April so I can be "free" from the bra at least until lighter clothing weather. Have a restful sleep!

I'll be more than happy to send you some heat. Yesterday we were already in the 80's.

But alas, it would cool off in the mailing. Lol.

right. there's always hot cocoa.

Ha ha, thanks for the laugh. Your poem reads well and is so true for many women. I enjoyed reading and reviewing it. I like the art and the way you formatted your lines.
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan
