Attack of the Chickens

Chickens seem innocent enough, but are they?

Great dribble fiction, and a good entry for the contest. My neighbor has chickens, and I'll keep an eye out for them now that I know your experience. lol.

Thanks for the kind review. The picture I used was from one I took at my daughter's house. Her neighbor had chickens and they were always getting loose and coming into her yard and digging. It drove her nuts. If it hadn't been so much work I might have shot one or two, but then you have to pluck and clean them. Better to just chase them home. Have a great day.

Laughing. Hope they didn't get you.
Personally I think its going to be squirrels. Think about it - their agility: they can jump from anything, they can run across wire. T hey chatter, so they can communicate (probably in code). Maybe they'll team up with the chickens. The Squickens!
Your story is cute and imaginative. Good job.

Thanks for the kind review Katherine,
I've had issues with squirrels before. One was in my attic years ago, and every night at around 2A M it would walk across the floor and start scratching. I finally got it in a mouse trap. When my boys were young they shot squirrels with their BB guns. I told them they had to eat what they shot, so they skinned them and made a fire and ate the skinny little things. The topper was when I looked at my tool shed and they had hung the skin on the side like a trophy. Big game hunters! Oohhh...Squickens! Something else to add to my list of things to look out for. How funny! Blessings.

Heavens, your boys were braver than I. Your threat would have done it, for me.
Besides, they're fun to watch - except when digging up my plants.

This is a riot. I don't know if chickens can get rabies, but I've known some nasty roosters. We kept chickens for quite a while. In one batch, one of the chicks always pecked at me. I named her Little Pecker and she didn't stop pecking me until she gave up the ghost. You make me think of Hitchcock's "The Birds."

Oh Susan, you made me laugh out loud. I actually had a picture of my oldest daughter (all grown up) wearing a chicken hat, complete with legs hanging down at the sides. I couldn't get it to download or I would have used it. When I was stationed in Key West there was a radio program titled - Chicken Man. Wish I could hear it again. There's just something about chickens...

I have a story called "Chicken Zen" that I will probably post some time. I thought I had already, but it's not in my portfolio.

Rabid chickens. You have really used your imagination in this story. Like you say, anything can happen in this day and age, so we need to keep our doors locked.

Thanks for the kind review Ann. I do have a rather vivid imagination, but when everything we know to be true seems to be getting turned upside down, who knows what might happen next.
    Blessings to you.
