Attack of the Chickens
Chickens seem innocent enough, but are they?24 total reviews

I have seen chickens that have attacked people especially cockerels why they have done this is not clear but like all creatures you get good and bad and downright vicious, so we all had better watch out. Thanks for posting and sharing I liked it. Kooky

Hey Kooky,
I appreciate the review and comments. The story just came to me out of the blue. I've never spent too much time around chickens, except at the dinner table, and there isn't much chance for them to fight back then.
Have a blessed evening.

A story that is only slightly tongue-in-cheek. Having been around chickens I know they will sometimes attack and it isn't fun.
The story is paced well. The tone is conversational. The tension is built with the word choices. The end leaves the reader with a call for their own conclusion.
Thanks for a good read.

Hi, Thanks so much for reading and reviewing my little story. My daughter's neighbor had chickens that would come into her yard and dig in the garden. She wasn't happy about it.
Have a blessed day.

You are welcome.

Well-written little story that doesn't sound too far out of the realm of possibility. I once had an rooster who would run people out of the barn. I especially like the ominous ending.

Hello, thanks for reviewing my story and the comments. You never know what might happen with chickens. I've eaten enough of them in my lifetime, they may like to take revenge.
Blessings

In this day and age of many unexplained situations, rabid chickens would fit right in. I love the humor here and they way suspense and anticipation is knocking on the door. Well done! --Judy

Hello Judy,
Thanks so much for reading and commenting. You're right, rabid chickens would fit right into the headlines anymore. There is so much else that I've never seen in my life before, who knows.
Have a blessed day gal.

Now this is the kind of horror fiction that I can handle. You left it with a cliffhanger (the sound of scratching) and you set the scene without any gore. Most of all, you pose a valid question. Best wishes in the contest!

This dribble, Attack of the Chickens, has the proper word count and creates a new chapter for 'The Birds' that brings crazy roosters and hens, foaming at the beak, cackling and cock-a-doodling for blood. That would be unpleasant.

Hey Bill- no doubt you're correct. I've had several people let me know that they've been chased by chickens or roosters. It's funny that something so small can send us packing. So who's the real chicken here? Thanks for the review.

An interesting choice for a dribble fiction piece. A humourus "what if", switching the roles of chickens and humans in the food chain. Thank you for sharing this work.

Thank you Sharon. I'm never sure what I'm going to write about. The picture came from my daughter's back yard where her neighbor's chickens were creating havoc.

This is a hilarious premise! Let's hope that it doesn't become reality. People seem to find enough to fear these days. We did, however, once have a little chicken who chased us around the barnyard. lol

Thanks for your kind review. I've heard from several people who mentioned being chased by chickens. I've been stalked by a bear or two here in Alaska, and once in the Everglades I was chased by an alligator who wanted my Large Mouth bass. Never a dull moment. Have a great day.

Oh my goodness! A bear and an alligator would be things to fear, Tom!

Your contest entry was fun to read and think about. You are right about anything being able to happen today. I like the way you ended your entry. That gives readers something to ponder--did he make it or not.
Best wishes.
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

thanks so much Jan. It has been so much fun being on this site. I just wish there were more story contests. I am not much with poems, but I'm usually able to come up with some kind of short story. I appreciate all the support. Blessings.

Consider sponsoring a contest. You can enter your own contest. Look at the 'contests' tab at top.

Thanks Jan, I'll give it some thought. I might wait until I'm a little more familiar with how things work, but I can certainly read about it.
-
The main thing to do now is build your fan base. You can 'fan' up to 5 per day. That will help your writing reach more.

Thank you Jan, you're a blessing.

Ha! You are right, in this day and age, who knows what can happen. An interesting little philosophical bit about what might happen if chickens got the upper hand. I'm a vegetarian, so I've actually thought about this subject before. More than once, lol.
Good luck in the contest.

Thanks for your review. I hope if the chickens ever rebel they'll give you a pass. Take care.
