Aw....a very happy 22nd birthday to your granddaughter!
I really enjoyed reading your poem. I hope you get to share all the happy things that she has yet to come...you must be very proud of her achievements so far.
I love the line 'a happy, curly head' - it's very sweet :)
Thank you for sharing, best wishes as always, Debra

This is so cute. As a newbie in the Grandy stakes (my grandson turned two in November) I am a real sucker for peoples tales and poems about this subject. I consider it much more fun than parenthood, and am having a wonderful time.

There's no comparison. "Granding" is a blast. You will enjoy every minute. Think of all the FUN things you can do together. I'd love to do it all over again.

Oh, what a wonderful age! So much ahead of her. I know you must be proud. You must be proud of her for receiving the fellowship and graduating. She must be very bright. I love that you mentioned reading Uncle Wiggly. I enjoyed those stories when I was a child. It's too bad that the time are such that they can't have the usual graduation pomp and circumstances for the proud families to attend. Hopefully, things will be back to normal in another year. Those kids grow up so fast, don't they? very enjoyable reading. judi

Yes, a bunch of them are riding the train Friday morn at 4:30 !!! to NYC, all renting one room - how they get away with that, I don't know, but they plan to sight see. It sounds like a cute group. In a way, I wish I could be a fly on the wall.
Yeah, it's shame about graduation. She acts like it doesn't matter, about no pomp and... no family, but I think it really does.
Thanks, Judi for taking so much time with me!!

You're welcome. It seems that we've learned to accept that we don't have these family celebrations like we used to. Some good news I saw in the paper today--the college kids are getting their COVID vaccine. judi

Happiest of birthdays to her!!
I see I'm a day late...so I
hope she had a beautiful one!
I hope you can attend her graduation.
Hopefully so many will be vaccinated by then.
Lovely tribute-birthday poem.

What a wonderful tribute to your granddaughter! Mine is also 22. I don't get to see her often because she lives in Vancouver, WA and I'm in Texas. I really like your poem - especially this part:
And just like every grandma
I would love to see her wed
And then produce a replica--
A happy, curly-head.

:-)
Thank you for sharing!
Susan

Happy Birthday to you granddaughter!! And Congratulations, too! She's graduating from college in DC next month. Wow! I believe you that it goes too fast as in another ten years my grand kids will be in college, too. Lol.

Ten years. You've got all those funny teen years first.
Thanks for the good wishes for my granddaughter. She'll be back to Texas for graduation - such as it is. I'll be glad to have her back. I had thought she might stay in DC. That's too far away.

So glad that you'll see more of her! Mine are 270 miles away. Sigh.

Such a red-letter day! I have three granddaughters so I relate to all you say here in this lovely poem that exposes your love for her. Such achievements bear talking about. I'm sure she would be pleased with this rendering.

I can tell you are an amazing children's author! You capture words and bring them into the wonder of a kid. What a lucky granddaughter you have to have you as her grandma!
