I thought surely I had reviewed this post. I may have touched on it in the previous post but I'll write it here again because it bears repetition. It is completely supporting your opening line. This is a very important topic you are addressing. I'm sure like me, us baby boomers had friends, classmates, & relatives who came home with only half their mind, addicted to substances, terrible PTSD, and difficulty in relationships.
We're not even addressing other things war took such as limbs, abilities to move, to walk, to work, or to function.

Having two brothers that served in Vietnam and working with many Vietnam era vets. The common theme is lack of support for all veterans by our government. I have written my state senators, congress members of BOTH parties and several letters to local newspapers regarding the needs of those who sacrificed for them and all Americans. As I expected, I got the standard political response. Dealing with them just got too frustrating to keep going.
All I was asking was to take care of our veterans. It is not acceptable the public must give to private charities to help them.
Those men and women should receive first class treatment. As American?s we owe them.

Sadly true. I'm very aware of some of the cracks they can fall through one of my friends son is having to go to the VA hospital for treatment. There are some treatments he can't seem to get like a decent dentist. What is that about?

I just reviewed this same story a few minutes ago. I don't know if you inadvertently posted it twice, or if I did something when I reviewed, but I just wanted to point that out first thing, just in case it's some thing on your end.
What I said in my earlier review is that this story touched me to the point of tears. The sacrifices made by our Vietnam veterans and their families are ones others will never understand fully. I thank you and your brother, and all the vets, for their sacrifices and service. I understand the camaraderie formed in the military, as I am an army national guard veteran, but I do not understand how that multiplies in combat situation. God bless you, and God bless all our veterans.
There are a couple typographical error's and one or two grammatical errors in your story, but the message overshadowed them for me. You might want to review again, however.

Thank you for sharing this story. It must have been horrible what your brother went through while fighting and then after he came home. How great that with the help of others, he was able to overcome. We all owe so much to those who have fought so we could have freedom.

Thank you Anne for the kind words. I spoke last evening with my brother for over an hour. Half of it was just laughing. It is so good having him home after over fifty years!
