This 5-7-5, Amidst Angry Waves, has the proper formatting and shows us a planted force that resists nature to be a guardian for others.

June,

The waves batter the shoreline of the lone lighthouse. Fortunately, it guides the boats home. A very overall presentation for your Ekphrastic Haiku event.

Thanks! Lighthouses are still very much in use here in New England.

Your haiku reads well, June. Good job on its style. I like the red color that represents anger in this case. Your last line is a great satori, too.
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

This is a nicely written haiku. Amidst angry waves. Lighthouse remains a Beacon. Hope cannot be dimmed. Well done. Beautiful photo to compliment your poem.

Outstanding photo, and a good choice of font colour to match the lighthouse. Your poem is well constructed and each word well chosen. Good wishes for your Haiku writing.

haiku (amidst angry waves)
by June Sargent

Thank you for participating in our Haiku Club event. Good syllables count and connection between lines. The satori is clever and relates to the top two lines in juxtaposition. As always, an excellent entry. Well done.

This is an excellent haiku, the artwork is outstanding, and it really accentuates the the problem involved with having and hope, despite the incredible odds against, well done, blessings Roy

June , you are rapidly changing my mind about short poems. I really will try one some day. You always deliver. This is strong, not only in its presentation, which is secondary, but you always manage to get out that little extra.

''hope cannot be dimmed''

Sums it up...just beautiful wording.
My best wishes.
Have a great day.

By all means, tty one! I still prefer longer poems with rhythm and rhyme. But I have embraced these short forms that can leave us pondering over the many layers of meanings - from different viewpoints. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

This haiku reminds me that a sailor in the middle of storm would be so relieved to see that light piercing the night sky and reminding him exactly where the dangerous rocks lie that might wreck his vessel. If he were lost it would orient him and let him the shore is not so far away.

You are spot on - like sailors on a stormy ocean, we can navigate through life successfully if we look to a higher source for guidance. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
