What Happened to Spring?

It's the first of April and in Alaska, snow is everywhere

I liked your poem a lot. It is really true. Us folks down south have it real easy. But your complaint is valid. I enjoyed the rhythm and rhyme and how you are tired of the cold and snow.
But spring is nigh, and so you sigh...what a relief!
Great entry.
Best of luck in the contest.

Thank you so much Marie. Just yesterday the temp hit fifty. There is still snow on the ground, but it won't last. We can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Blessings!

I don't live in Alaska, but I know the anticipation of spring and warm weather. I can't wait to walk outside without a heavy coat weighing me down. Cause I know the struggle, I found this amusing. It's as if you've read my mind. Come one spring let's get it on. My family down South showing off in the warm weather, but it's cool. Our time is coming, just stay strong. Lol

Thanks so much for your review and comments. Just a couple days ago it started to warm up. The snow is melting fast and now we're going to be in mud for awhile. Oh well.

A nicely written poem that reminds me of the Johnny Horton song When it's Springtime in Alaska (it's forty below). Brings me back to my childhood.
Hang in there, spring will come eventually.

Thanks for your kind review Geoff. I can't recall having heard that song, but in some places it would certainly be accurate. Hopefully spring won't be long now.

I would be horrified by this scene in April, but maybe you should relocate? Ha ha ha, there is far too much snow in Alaska for me, but I bet there is some beautiful scenery too. Your poem is a heartfelt plea for spring weather, I hope the flowers poke through soon for you, love Dolly x

Thank you Dolly. I actually was looking to move to Idaho, but after seeing the summer weather forecast in the low hundreds I changed my mind and came even further north than I was. Summers are breathtaking here. Spring is coming (I think)

I do not envy you Alaskans having to wait forever for Spring. It comes late enough to the Midwest, but we do have flowers now. But your vistas in the summer are outstanding.

Thanks so much for your review. You're right, summers here can't be beat. They just don't last long enough.
