Nomi,

I must say that I totally agree with everything you have poetically expressed here. Your entry stanza is so powerful:

"Patriotism is not a religion,
God over country is a wise decision.
Jesus rules a kingdom not of this world,
He is not aligned with any flag unfurled."

Wow! And Amen. Nice how you have included rhymes lines
while expressing treasures beyond measures. Now you've
stolen one of my extra stars...which I gladly award. That
was just my odd sense of humor.

Love this poem and its message and how the message was
written and presented.

God bless and keep up the good preaching,

AnnaLinda

This puts patriotism in perspective. It is easy to forget that our tribal groups are as nothing compared to the all-embracing panacea of the ultimate creator.

This poem, Patriotism is not Religion, tackles a fine distinction we make in our country about faith in God and in our country.
I am reminded somehow of the USMC emblem, the Eagle, Globe , and Anchor. We did not have an emblem, so we stole the eagle from the Air Force, the anchor from the Navy, and, one night, when God was sleeping, we stole the world.

Because you are my dear and treasured friend, I will wait for you as long as it takes. Never fear, to me you are worthy, therefore you can do nothing that would make me angry with you. May God bless and keep you always within the shelter of his loving care.

I agree with your philosophy. The low of your poem makes it an easy read. The message is right on. The picture supports your message. You are probably beyond contests with five books of poetry.

Thank you for the author's notes - they support the words of this poem.
I pondered on the words of this poem and yes I agree totally that God must always come first. The poem flows and connects well.

Hello Nomi,
This is an excellent poetic reminder that Patriotism and religion
are separate things, though many likely think differently.
"Man's rule has brought trouble beyond measure."
That is a true statement that applies to thousands of years
of endless horror.
There is always hope.
Best wishes.
Robert

Thank you Robert. It is very gratifying to know that my voice is only one of many that feel as I do. There is hope for our future, God will put an end to governments that continue to get it wrong. He is going to fix things.

I agree with you, dear Nomi. Our devotion to God comes before country or government. The Bible says of Christ: the government shall be upon His shoulder, and He shall reign forever. I'm very much looking forward to that day. Thank you for sharing. A much needed word.
Sending you my best today and blessings,
Sally :) xo

Your poem is smoothly metered and has no forced rhymes. It seems to state there should be a break between state and religion. But I think patriotism is just one kind of faith, faith in humanity that is heightened by faith in God.
Keep writing and stay healthy

I see your point. However, the Bible states that God's kingdom takes precedence over the governments fashioned by man. If you accept that man was made by God then anything made by man is second at least to anything made by God.

    I see your point, also.

AMEN!!! I enjoyed reading your poem. We as humans fall short in so many ways. In spite of that, God loved us so much that He sent Jesus to die for our sins. It doesn't get much better than that and we still mess up.

God knows that we cannot help ourselves. That is why he so merciful. His mercy, however has limits. He will not continue forgiving us forever.
