Dear Mystery Writer,

There are so many times people write open pieces and try to pass them off as free verse poems. I have said a ba-zillion-ca-trillion times here that you can't just write out a stream of thought and slap a label on it and say it's poetry - there are certain things that set 'poetry' apart from mere words on a page.

Like this.

I think this is a beautiful piece. It's not perfect and in the real world, could be improved on a wee bit - but not much because in it's imperfect state - it actually goes to show the state mom left the family in.

This is a powerful piece. I cannot say I enjoyed it, but I appreciated the content and your courage in creating it. Thanks.

Boy there seems to be a lot of angst in this poem, as children not getting the support you thought you were entitled to, it may be time to let that go, beautifully written, an open, honest poem as an entry in this contest, well done, good luck, blessings Roy

Oh, what sad thoughts and memories. I hope your writing does and continues to be therapeutic for you. It does seem like you have a grip on the situation you grew up in. Prayers for you and your siblings.

Sadness expressed in a loving way toward the person who caused it by neglecting her own health. This could have been a maudlin thing, but you avoided that by being specific about the precise nature of your loss and not by dwelling on personal emotions. This poem will lead many a mother to realize her importance to her children and love herself so she can love them. Well done.

I am so very sorry for your loss here. You not only lost your mother but also the guiding hand she should have provided. I am saddened as i know what it is like to have to raise onesself.
