As soon as I saw your poem and picture I thought of Brooke. Then i saw your author notes and saw that you thought the same thing about her. She was certainly well loved on this site. I miss her too.
You are so good about using the poetry devices we learned in Brooke's classes. Love your use of personification. Yes, they do think they own the yard and garden and pop up where they pretty much please.
Love your closing verse using their perseverance as we should also persevere in our Christian walk.
Wonderful rhyme and meter as always.
Hope you are doing well my friend.
Blessings,
Maria C.

Thank you Maria for your wonderful review and the beautiful six stars. What a joy to hear from you today. We did learn a lot from Brooke. I miss her and often think of her - especially in the spring when the dandelions start popping up in my yard.
Blessings and hope you and your family are doing well.

I am late with this one dear Janet. I read it the first day, and wanted to get back to it to tell you a story about a dandelion, but a turbulent week. Someday I will go into that story.
For now, let me say, they are resilient. even growing through concrete.
Your aabb is beautiful indeed. Full of imagery, it brightens my day.
Bravo.
Have a nice week.
Best wishes.

Hello Janet,
It's been a while since I've spoken to you. I hope this review finds you in good health. I don't come around much anymore.
This is such a beautiful poem, especially a few days from Easter. I used to think the same way about dandelions. I would spray them or pull them up by the roots until a good friend convinced me that they were beautiful yard decorations and that I should let them grow.
So, for the last several years when I mow the yard I try my best not to mow them down. That good friend was Brooke/Adewpearl. God rest her soul.
Happy Easter to you and yours, Janet...Take care, my friend...Bill

Thank you for this wonderful review Bill. It has been a while. I don't participate on FS like I used to either.
Dandelions always make me think of Brooke. She certainly has left a legacy of enjoyment for the little things in life. She could make what might seem mundane into something really special.
Wishing you and your a very Happy Easter as well. Our youngest grandson turns 21 on Easter so we will celebrate with him as well.
Blessings
Janet

As a gardener, you probably know that the dandelion is a major source of nectar for the butterfly, a symbol of the Resurrection, while those beautiful roses are of no use to them at all. While that may not be the most beautiful blooms, I do allow them some space! Beautifully written "ode" to the dandelion.

Good Morning, Janet!
I read you exceptionally well-crafted offering last night, but I waited to review until this morning when I had six stars!
I not only appreciate the form and rhyme scheme of your poem, but its message as well!
I am an avid gardener; in fact, our entire yard is one huge garden. But it is "wild and wooly" = not formal at all. And yes, dandelions share their beauty among bleeding hearts, lilacs, Japanese anemones, and, well, you get the idea. One of my favorite blooming groups is of pink tulips that bloom faithfully every year around a birdbath in the front yard. But for as long as the pink tulips have bloomed, in the center of the grouping, is an orange tulip! Now, orange is found nowhere else in my gardens or on our property. But I smile every spring with this renegade blooms! Keeps me humble...
Thank you for sharing!

Thank your Diane for the wonderful review and the special stars. I don't think anyone has ever done what you did for me before. I am humbled by your kindness.
We just moved to this location 1 1/2 years ago so I'm still finding out what grows here best and what is already here ... it's another fun adventure. I love that you have an orange tulip in the midst of your pink ones. Nature has a way of surprising us and your renegade bloom is another of God's little surprises.
Blessings and Happy Easter

Good grief, Janet!
I called you, Adonna! My apologies! Although, I love both of your writing styles, I need to proofread my responses a little closer before I push the "save" button! :)
Take Care!

-Nice image, presentation,
and tribute to Brooke, Janet.
-She would be very pleased.
-I don't think there is an
answer about the dandelion
being a flower or a weed.
-You have written a very
good poem with effective
imagery, meter, and rhyme.
-I like the last verses about
"things that seem to have no grace"
and the lesson in the last one.
-Very well done; have a great day.

Thank you for writing this as it is indeed a lovely poem. Yes, dandelions are weeds but they are still pretty and probably we judge them harshly. Very well written, smooth flow and good rhyme.

I had almost forgotten the fact that the dandelion was Adewpearl favorite flower. Some people think they are weeds and spend time and money to eradicate them. I use them in salads.

Charming piece--fresh twist on "weeds"--I am of like mind--I embrace anything that deigns to grace my "garden." Lovely flow, fine rhyme and vivid imagery!

Definitively a great "flower" poem! Your descriptions are vivid and your feelings describe how you changed your perception on the Dandelions. Your change of mind and acceptance of dandelions in front of the roses brings to my memory a proverb that said "the forest would be very silent if only the birds that do it best, sing", Blessings.
