A beautiful poem, and a lovely tribute to your friend and also some lovely innocent memories of your childhood. Your poem is clear, smooth-flowing, and eloquent. Good wishes for the contest.

Beautiful way to show the subconscious mind - connecting memories through "bridges." Then it feels like the subconscious just before sleep itself is a bridge to the past. Best wishes in the contest!

This gave me goosebumps it is so good. Many a reader will identify with this poem. They will be grateful you are saying it for them. This is good fodder for an autobiography. I am working on one I wrote 20 years ago. Rather than writing about chronological events, I write in themes, just as you have here.

Hello :)
This is gorgeous, so full of heart.
I really enjoyed it.
The imagery is beautiful and I can see two young girls doing all those things in my mind's eye.
My favourite part:
I do all these things, still.
I seek you out and meet you many nights on the bridge,
to help still my ancient pounding heart, my racing brain.
I become nine again.'
I love that you still hold your breath when you pass a graveyard!
Thank you for sharing your childhood friends and your escapades with us.
Good luck in the voting booth.
Best wishes, Debra :)

A wonderful visit to your childhood memories and connection to a childhood friend. I always find it fascinating that seeing a certain object can call to mind the good old days of childhood so vividly. This free verse poem is effectively structured in compliance with the rules governing the task. An enjoyable read.

This is so sweet the best things in life: a childhood of simpler pleasures, love and trust. I felt nine again just reading this. How refreshing. I hope the gang can vote in this contest. This is the winner in my eyes. Sending you my best today as always,
Sal :))

This work has reached the exceptional level

This is a beautifully penned poem about the poet's childhood friend, Amy.There are happy memories of the games they played, the secrets they shared, the places that were dear to them.Even a graveyard holds special recollections of holding one's breath as they passed and exploding into giggles once they had made it to the other side. This is a delightful piece
and follows the guidelines of the contest faithfully. I wish you well.cheers Cass

Memories of a nine year old captured well in this smile-generating story. Reminds me of friends I must reach out and see again soon. I like the description of a shadow in your life. Well done.

This is a very expressive poem in dedication to your childhood friend. So many memories of the games you played and the fun you had. I like your reference to "London Bridges falling down," and thinking of it when you saw London Bridge. Very well done.
