Oh, my Gawd!!! I just got your "Jukebox Hits #18" in my message box, and I had to go back and check what the fifty were. So, I came all the way back to #50 and I plan on working my way up.

This is my music, this is my era, this is my groove. Roy was the epitome of perfection. You mentioned that you would pile the 45s high and go to sleep. Well, in all honesty, I would put a Roy Orbison album on every single night and go to sleep to his unbelievably sweet, tender vocals. None other like him. We truly lost a one-of-a-kind national treasure when Roy passed.

I'm a sucker for nostalgia and especially for R&R or C&W nostalgia. So, I don't care if these next 49 selections only pay 2 cents or not, I have no choice but to listen to them and to read what you have to say about them and how they affected your life.

Maybe I won't agree with some and then again maybe I will. This one I may have put up somewhere in the top ten. But it is always fun to see how other people's music brains work.

Thank you for such a worthy submission.

I look forward to more. I am going to try to discipline myself to go in order, from 50 to 1, but I see you have written some of them out of order. Tch, Tch, Tch, shame on you. LOL I think I will be able to figure it out.

You chose a great topic to span several days, weeks, or even months.

Heh! I should give you four stars for not having this as number one. :-) I'm reviewing this after reviewing Frankie Valli and find it humorous that you have Elvis quoted as saying Roy was the greatest! I'm enjoying this stroll down memory lane. I also loved Roy as one of theTraveling Willburys.

Sally:

How I love Roy Orbinson - I won't say loved because his
music remains so very much alive. Like you, he is one of
my all-time favorites. I cannot wait to see how your all-
time 50 list and mine will compare.

Hi Sally,
What a great idea! Your top 50 hits will bring us all clapping.
I have to admit, though, I was never a huge fan of Roy Orbison until he joined The Traveling Wilburys. The original group included Roy, George Harrison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, and Jeff Lynne. Of course, George and Tom have joined Roy in Heaven, and I'm sure they're writing new songs we'll love.
Here they are, shortly after Roy's departure, singing a favorite song of mine, "End of the Line", where they paid tribute to Roy (an empty rocking chair holding his guitar, a framed picture, and his beautiful voice)

A very talented musician! I'm glad he made your top 50, Sal'!
Hugs,
Kimbob

Aw thank you, dear. My 50 have some of our discussions and shared favorites. Gerry and the Pacemakers... Noel Paul Stookey... and of course Gordon Lightfoot, The Beatles, and Van Morrison. I have a nice mix and some opera! Hang on, it's going to be fun. Sending you my best today as always,
    Sal :)) xo

I remember the days when there wire cafes that had small juke boxes on their tables, and we tees would spend our money to play the hits.

Sally,

This is a very fine write you have shared with us. Your little red record player was fun to read...nice imagery with all those 45's stacked on it.

I like Roy's quote that you shared with us:

"That sense of 'do it for all it's worth and do it now and do it good."

Your other bits of information about him was also interesting and
the video is a nice extra.

One of my favorites Sally. Believe it or not. I had moods for different sorts of music, especially when I was touring and drove long distances, it was perfect music for a teary daydream, often hazardous for driving, unless you had windscreen wipers on your eyes.
A lovely thing.
Good to read from you.
I am a little better now.
My best wishes.
Have a great week.
