Santa,
Oh boy, a new word for my dictionary. Glad you provided clarification for 'foxed'!
Those old, dog-eared books often have that musty scent. Great imagery for your 5-7-5 contest entry. Wrought, not often seen/written, but a good use in this poem.

You have taken a reader on a nostalgic journey. Every one of us feels the same at some time or the other. I have a collection of such books that take me back by a couple of decades. Superb use of limited words to convey feelings. Congrats on winning the contest. Well deserved. Thanks for sharing!

This is a wonderful concept, title and picture. Just one little problem for me (the simplist), I don't like ideas that span two lines so I would have preferred to read
time wrought musty scent
wafting up from foxed pages

You have made excellent use of your seventeen syllables in this appealing poem about appreciation for books--in particular those yellowed and tattered by time and use.

Thanks for a great review zanya

Oh the love of old books. The pages themselves, without one word read, tells a story of how much the book was adored. "musty scent wrought by time..." only adds to its charm. I'd rather have a book in hand over an electronic version any day. Truly can relate to this poem. Thank you for sharing.

I agree, Mystery Author. There's nothing like a real book to enjoy rather than on line reading. Good job with the syllable count per line. Your image choice is perfect. You make a great point in 17 syllables. Thanks for sharing and best wishes.
Respectfully, Jan

A lot of people love old books, they bring with that familiar must scent a consistency and ever present tradition, (the good ones) that appears to be vanishing at a rate of knots, well done, good topic and poem, good luck, blessings Roy

I love that smell. I recently visited a thrift store that had old school books for sale from the late 1800s to the 1930s. They had handwritten notes and drawings in them, and they smelled so old. This is a great contest entry, thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest. :)

This is an excellent piece with perfectly chosen wording. I appreciate the clarification of the meaning of "foxed." That combo, "fixed pages of a dog-eared book" lifted the whole poem a couple of notches. I would have liked more of a title that was specific to your poem.
