This is a well written terse story about how a lioness hunts. She seems old and slow if she missed a baby zebra. The miss was an omen of her coming death.

Not only recognised, I won second place with it! Yahoo! Yes, I love getting in to earth and plant out little ones - such a joy that god has given us and man can't corrupt. Your weather has been severe and in a way, ours is nuts. Severe drought and high temps. Autumn and you would think it was still summer! At least now the rains have arrived and last weekend I got 100 mm a big difference to 1 mm since January. A lot of our crops are rotting because we can't get overseas pickers because of covid. The schoolkids came up with a bright idea, they got stuck into picking what they could. Blessings my friend, love Kay XX :-)

glad you got rain and good for the school kids. AND you're right about planting and working with the soil is one thing man can't corrupt - about the only thing. At the moment our gov't is about as corrupt as you can get and socialism is creeping in. I can hardly stand to watch the news, it makes me so depressed. But, enough of that.
I'm having fun entering FS contests and writing short stories and trying new recipes. Made some spinach soup yesterday that turned out pretty good. surprise surprise. Going to make some corn bread and have a couple of friends to supper. Now that I've bored you to tears, I will say adios - however, I did love hearing from you!

I can't imagine spinach soup? I love spinach. We have the English version and then we have the giant Ford hook spinach. It used to be a staple back in the old days, now it costs $5 a bunch! I planted some in my tubs, lost it because it is so big the roots ran out of soil! Pouring rain here, much needed. Love, Kay.

soup has chicken stock, shredded onion and carrots, spinach. LOTS of cream, nutmeg and lemon zest of one lemon- tasty Had to take the stems off of 2 bags of spinach. :)

The hunter becomes the hunted and victim of the poacher's rifle. As I understand, most of the killing by lions is carried out by the lionesses, but the lion gets first go at the kill. Injustice it seems is not confined to the human world.
