When we open our mouths and insert our foot it's too late to take back hurtful words. Sometimes we just don't think before we speak. Sometimes it's just a lesson learned, not to be forgotten. Good luck with the contest.

Your poem reminds us that we need to think before we speak, because once words are spoken they cannot be retrieved. We all speak sometimes without thinking, but as we realize it, we need to ask forgiveness of the one we have hurt, and then forgive ourselves and be more careful in the future.
