Oh, my goodness! This is amazing! I have been gone too long and forgot how talented you are. I think you have actually gotten better. Know what? Your writing inspires me to go all out in writing, to explore all senses in describing patterns and comparisons and smells and feels. This poem is precious. I do not know how else to describe it!

my mother being 91 no longer has that youthful
shell she spent the better part of her life in...
but the shell she now wears has just a much beauty to it...
only seen different...
I love your poem my wonderful friend...

This haibun, Her Lovliness, combines this terrific description of this older lady, with all the notations of time written on her mature countenance. The haiku capture the feelings of self-rebuke, that this woman had not been seen as the past preserved for the present. Nice.

I think we overlook our seniors. There are so many tales that could be told, but many while away their hours in a nursing home, without visitors.
Beautiful people with wonderful stories.
And you top it off with one of my favorite songs by Gordon Lightfoot. I played my guitar and sang this very song when I met my future wife at Camp Tulakadik back in May of 1973 when I was a Cub Master. The kids were all snug in their cabin bunks, and the stars were shining overhead. She came out with a few of the other Pioneer Girl leaders in the lodge to listen to my serenade.

I compared mine to yours and hope that I will be as good as you someday. I enjoyed your so much this week and think it is just stellar. I'm sure a poem of the month nomination is coming for you.
