You did a great job describing this very difficult problem. My husband has tinnitus, too. I heard of some gadgets which create another ringing sound that supposed to stop the other ringing sound.
I guess this was for a contest, that's why I wasn't notified.
Hope you are doing well, Jose!

Thank you,, Helen. I have lots of messages but no computer. I'm in Brownsville taking care of the in law. She broke her hip and they gave her a metal one. Got ahold of this notebook and been catching up. Will post something today and read more poetry. :)

Good to know you're okay. Sorry to hear about your mother-in-law. Looking forward to your post.
By the way, who are your Mexican-American heroes? I only know Cesar Chavez. I need more Mexican American history - I remember you requested that but I will have to do a bunch more reading!

I sympathise with your world of tinnitus. As someone who adores silence and hearing the small sounds of nature, I can only imagine what a curse this would be. You have portrayed some moments in your experience really well.

You make a good and important point with this informative write. I have to say I cannot imagine how annoying this would be. I do hope that a cure is discovered to give relief.

Thank you. It is frustrating.

A different aspect of silence, and wishing for it. My husband also suffers from this annoying "thing" and he finds it frustrating. Your poem is well constructed with the various aspects of tinnitus being portrayed well. Good wishes for your entry.

I was somewhat puzzled till I read the notes. I certainly feel for those who suffer with tinnitus! Your poem is very moving and vividly descriptive of how this malady affects you.

I really enjoyed reading your poem with striking image. I liked the hearts in the image. I agree that silence is a world we do not know now, yet the bees are buzzing, vehicles blowing their horns passing by, etc. Mostly, everyone, are wearing masks, the streets are almost barren, no venues, no human contact, however the noise continues; reminiscent of the movie "The Omega Man." But, to your point, we long for silence in a different light.

I have occasionally suffered from tinnitus as a result of medication side effects, and I empathize with anyone who suffers from this on a regular basis! You've described it well in your poem - in such a way that people who've never experienced it might get a clue about what it's like.
Thank you for sharing,
Susan

I am sufferer and if you train the brain not to hear it, then you are relieved from these sounds. I make a concerted effort to switch the sounds off, it is a matter of mind over matter. The mind won't mind and the sound does not matter. Ha ha ha, I am making light of what can be a serious problem for some people. The worst sound you mention here is the mosquito! Love Dolly x

This last stanza is heart-breaking: "I'm not alone in this world
There at many like me
Fighting for silence.
Yet, it cannot be. " Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.
