Leann,
As a Prince fan, your title caught my eye. "Baby, I am a Star" is one of my favorite Prince's songs.
I am glad the title caught my attention, because it was a delight to read. I was definitely surprised at the end as I was rooting for Jane given her selfless sacrifices, disappointments, and unexpected losses. Now, as people watched the movie they would wonder who is that girl, and hopefully agents would seek her for future work. That is your sequel to this well-written story. Your readers are waiting....

I love that prince song also! I actually had a T-shirt made when I was in secondary school with those words on it. :-) Great idea for the sequel! I might just do that. Thank you again for your supportive comments and for reviewing my work. Hugs.

Great story. I am a bit confused as the disclaimer states this the be purely
fictionally, yet your aunt Tootie was that torch woman. No matter, I loved the story and you told it well. Best wishes in the contest.

Well, even though my great, great aunt Jane went to Hollywood from Pennsylvania and ended up as the Columbia pictures trademark torch lady, I have no idea about the other details in her life. Those were all made up.

Sorry, I clicked "save replies" before I was finished.
Her family did not die in a fire, as her one of them was the parent of my grandmother. I don't know who her roommates were in California, and her mother was not killed by thugs.
Thank you for reading my story and for your review. It is appreciated. Hugs.

This is well written and the ending did surprise me. I hope the torch lady sued for big bucks. They had no right to use her image and not pay her a penny. This is nicely done.

I'm not sure of the details, but she had some kind of contract that allowed them to use her image. It really was a rip off. She has been deceased for many years now, and I never met her, but my grandmother knew her. It's a fun family story though. Thank you for the review and rating.

Interesting story, and not uncommon for people to fail in Hollywood. I'm surprised Columbia Pictures got away with that. However, Jane probably had something in her contract that covered them for buying her image for miscellaneous projects. Fascinating nonetheless.

Yes, that is correct. She had some kind of contract that allowed them to use her images and her work as an extra without additional financial compensation. Thank you for the review and comments.
