It can have double meaning .The direct meaning of the sentence is one and the other is that two great qualities are no longer to be found in the common people. I liked it .all the best for the contest.

I suspect this is a somewhat tongue in cheek statement if the normal meaning of these words, as opposed to their use as proper nouns, is considered, for if they have what hope can there be for the future?

They can't have completely left the planet, as the mission itself shows. But I suspect that, like water on Mars, they are in short supply. Thanks PG.
