It's amazing, how much you had going on, for a family with only one child who was still a minor! But I should know, from my own family, from how my brother and I continued to rely on our parents a lot as adults, that you never really stop being a mother and father. And you had four of them!
Of course, Carol seemed to take more attention than the other three put together, being 15 and rebellious. That was some crazy story about the eye makeup fire, in the girls' bathroom! My friends and I used to smoke in the bathroom, and the school even allowed it -- that was the 1970s!

Here are my suggestions:

The fire department was called. and the school was evacuated.

I think Connie was being very honest about her disappointment, leaving the old neighborhood behind, but there was probably more to it than that, since she was already having problems before you moved. It sounds like both Don and Christi had some dating issues. And your husband was having some trouble handling stress; maybe he just wasn't used to not working? Apparently it turned out alright, as I read in the Prologue that he lived a fairly long life -- it sounds as though he lived well into his eighties, although it's never long enough, when you love someone.

Thank you so much Mary Kay, I feel bad that this was no longer active. Please don't feel you have do all that work. I really appreciate you so much. Maybe they will lit me nominate you since it is March. Evan wasn't used to dealing with kids and it was stressful. When he worked it was mostly my job.Connie put us through a lot we didn't get from the other and maybe it was because she didn't get as much hands on attention when she was young as the others did. Christi gave us problem with her jealousy issues. Those years weren't easy. but Even had been stressed as work and now he was stress with kids. It did have an affect on his health but he lived to be 88. Hew was nine years older than me.

Hi Beth! Sorry I've been gone for a few days so I'm behind on reading...life does that to us sometimes as you so well know. Thanks for sharing those "I'm about to be smarter and more grownup" years with us. I wonder if they ever grow out of it. Smiles to you!

Thank you so much for the review and comments. Sometimes they grow up in some ways. In other ways, I think all of may never completely grow up. LOL.

Again this chapter is wonderfully written. You have a gift for detail and I wonder if you kept a diary, which helped you remember these things. The opening sequence about the taxes is so telling about both you and your husband.
I also feel like this chapter might be foreshadowing what's to come. More trouble for Connie? Your husband's health?
I enjoyed reading this.

Thank you for the review. I did keep a diary for a few years after I moved to Chattanooga. Before that I didn't and I've gotten a little bit of the story out of sequence from the way my children remember it.
Yes, there is some foreshadowing with Connie and my husband as well. Life never goes completely smoothly.

You already know I love the story. I am worried about Connie. Thank you for sharing.

Her relationships never lasted very long She always found a reason to sabotage them. (Probably a period is needed after long.)

Valerie, Connie's friend from school was a bad influence on her. (You don't need 'on her' it's redunit.)

Beth, as you know, I enjoy this project of capturing these memories for your children and the way you've decided to do it. I appreciate you sharing all of these memories.

Very good Beth. I can see the hubby doing the taxes for I did ours every year. If I had a problem I would get IRS to do them.
Christie sounds like my Angel Faith. Not good in math but good in most other sub.
I really enjoy reading your life story,
Sorry to be late. Been out of it lately.

Thank you so much for the review and for all the stars. If we are completely truthful, I'm afraid our children don't always behave the perfect way we would like too. I wasn't the perfect child either.

All I can say is, thank you for continuing to share these very personal memories of a busy and loving family. Your work reminds us all that families of all shapes and sizes struggle in various ways (and, with love and luck, manage through the rough spots). Best regards.

Thank you for the review and comments. Like all family we had our good moment and stressful one. Things never go completely smoothly but it is all worth the effort.

So Connie is at it again, blaming it on the move, the school. I just hope her new friend doesn't get her into more trouble and the tutor will help improve her grades. Hopefully, Christi will do better with her finances. I'm glad to see Don and Kimberly together again. Maybe the scare proved to them how much they mean to each other. Your story is well-written, very interesting. I look forward to reading more.

Thank you so much for continuing to read and comment on my story. Connie will continue to keep giving us problems for a while. Christi will never learn who to manage her finances. I telling it all, good and not so good. LOL

You seem to have had your hands full with Connie. She certainly managed to keep you and Evan on the edge. The ups and downs of our children seem to never stop during their youth, but thankfully as they mature things usually improve. No one is perfect and we all get to find that out.
LOL

YOu are right about that. I'm glad they finally grow up but there is always some drama going on in their lives even now. I'm just not always in the middle of like I was back then. Thanks for the review and comments.

As always you have interesting memories. You might mention names of some of the best performers you saw at the Festival. I saw only one thing you might want to change. In the paragraph beginning--"School was out . . ." you repeated "she thought" twice. Looking forward to the next portion of your life.

Thank you so much for the review and comments. Since it was in Tennessee there were a lot of country stars on the main stage. I remember the Gatlin brothers and Travis Twitt also there was Queen Latifah and Janet Jackson and many others I can't seem to remember. Some of the smaller stages featured local talent.
    I really appreciate your revew and I hope you keep reading;

Lots of people have no idea Queen Latifah was a singer.
