I especially loved the phrase, "the old barn stood like a ghost ship hove to in verdant waves of grass." That was a perfect description. Wouldn't you love to know the stories?

That is a beautiful poem, and a lovely painting too - the barn neglected and solitary - and no-one knows its story. I like the image of the barn as a ship at anchor amidst the green grass, with not a soul in sight. Mysterious and thought-provoking.

Your imagery is apt. In the picture, the barn does look like a ghost ship. Your details are excellent--the rusty roof, the bales of hay still there. The add to the picture of abandonment. Now neither man nor beast stirs around the barn, and no one knows its story. Beautifully worded. judi
