Oh you are another one of those clever people that write and paint. Love the picture and the beautiful free verse you've penned around it. Still standing, rusting, and holding it's secrets within.
cheers,
valda

I love this free verse and
your beautiful painting!
It's amazing how many writers
are also artists, must be
a creative gene!
Your work on both counts here
is awesome.
I've often wondered about the
story of abandoned buildings,
fences, old homesteads.
Blessings...

Wow, Yvonne, as much as I love the poem and the ambiance your words evoke, I love your painting even more -- it's stunning. You simply must share more of your artwork!

Thank you, Dawn. I've always thought this one was my worst. I only have three or four that I've kept.

You are a splendid artist as well as a poet, I see. Very beautiful picture and the words of your free verse are wonderfully descriptive. I enjoyed reading this very much. I especially loved the phrase, "the old barn stood like a ghost ship hove to in verdant waves of grass." That was a perfect description. Wouldn't you love to know the stories?
This was just lovely.

That is a beautiful poem, and a lovely painting too - the barn neglected and solitary - and no-one knows its story. I like the image of the barn as a ship at anchor amidst the green grass, with not a soul in sight. Mysterious and thought-provoking.

Your imagery is apt. In the picture, the barn does look like a ghost ship. Your details are excellent--the rusty roof, the bales of hay still there. The add to the picture of abandonment. Now neither man nor beast stirs around the barn, and no one knows its story. Beautifully worded. judi

What a wonderful painting, Yvonne, and it still looks fresh as it was in 1981. Such sadness in your words but they captured the feelings of loneliness and abandonment. Wonderful words and a wonderful painting.

Thank you. I always wonder about abandoned buildings and houses, what life must have been when they were occupied. 8-)

-Very nice painting and
presentation.
-Effective imagery
and comparison of the
barn to a ghost ship.
-You get across the
idea of this long abandoned
barn very well, and end
with the mystery of its story.
-Well done.

Hi Yvonne, this is a lovely free verse poem, and the picture, YOU painted it? You clever lady!!!! It's beautiful! Your words are perfect for it, now you can put them together and print them out and frame them together. You are so talented, Yvonne! I didn't know that. You should tell your sister these things. :)) Wonderful my dear SATP. :)) Sandra xx

I'm having some problems at the moment, and Graham and I don't know what we are going to do. (nothing wrong between us) That's the reason I've not been on here as much and I'm behind with my reviews. When I can, I will email you. Love you lots. xxx

Hi, Yvonne. I trust your days are getting just a tiny bit better now. DO NOT make the mistake of feeling guilty about that, my friend. It will just set you backabout a month or two in your heaaling process.

I love the poem, but no sixes left dear friend. Free verse is my favorite type of poetry.

The imagery throughout is wonderful.

Suggestions: Change the first line to read: "As the fog lifted."

And change this also to read: ":proof of its glorious tenure, "

Bless you an dyour day, dear friend. Bob

Yes, the days are getting easier. Thanks for asking. I was going to email you, but afraid that I'd stir up your own grief. I can't tell you how much you've helped me. Bless you, dear friend. Though we probably will never meet, I feel very close to you, and I'm thankful for your wonderful care and support.
