It never occurred to me that what I coined facetiously is actually a recognized phobia! I appended a credit to you in the text.

Lol! Boy, you had me scared when I started reading this! And now you have increased my phobia vocabulary with two new words. I hope you do a series of these and you can make up the character names!

I can't generalize and say man are such pussies, and please forgive me my bad language, but I am so scared of needles and afraid that I will die on the day of the Vaccination:"Chuck has told me this story daily, with ever more embellishments, for the past three weeks. He's convinced himself, on the basis of a single account of an allergic (non-fatal) reaction to (an inert component of) the vaccine that he is destined to die on V-Day." Thank you for sharing.

Yikes! Well you made me sit up and pay attention right quick! I'd just a few days ago heard on the (always true) CNN news that a seventy something women died moments after receiving the Covid "Jab"--while still sitting in the mandatory fifteen minute holding for observation area. BUT, the doctors hastened to add--she had a history of heart problems and it was "highly unlikely" the "Jab" of five minutes prior was the cause of her death. Now THAT TOO is "Improbaphobia!"
I can commiserate with you and your partner. I'm allergic to iodine and had a rather severe allergic reaction to it while being injected with iodine dye before a cat scan (that is, I stopped breathing--my heart stopped.)--So God bless everyone who had to hear my telling of THAT adventure for the six months after...
ON the other hand, as an RN I have witnessed patients of mine grabbing at their throats, HOLDING their breath and SWEARING they were allergic...and they SO were not! (Drama? See Nursing war stories!)
God help him... and YOU for having to hear about it over and over and over again...
After the second telling I run out of sympathy. I'd go off and write about it too.
Just not nearly as grand as you do!

So, you win! I Googled "Improbophobia" and YOU came up! Here's number one in the Google universe: "Fear of the Improbable by Elizabeth Emerald

Given that his bizarre condition is thus far undocumented, and therefore unnamed, I've coined the moniker Improbaphobia. Kindly excuse me; I'm off to summarize Chuck's case history for submission to the esteemed Compilation of Phobias; with luck I'll beat the deadline for the next edition: look for it under Improbaphobia."--K

There's so much here to love, but I think it's a little over-written. I like the initial choice of you writing about Chuck as its happening- that's a fun idea- but then you subvert it, and then subvert that and it goes a bit all over the place for me.
This has more of the feel of poetry to me, which is fine if that's the choice you're making.
Lots to love, but maybe have a more thorough look at it.
Cheers!

Poor Chuck. You pick on that boy all the time. He must be a saint to keep from spanking your butt for all the tales you tell on him, and most of the fictional variety. LOL. But they are always fun and entertain. And yes, I'm sure there are tidbits of truth twisting in your evil ways. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

You could probably enter this word in the current Portmanteau contest, but your Improbaphobia about doing well in a site contest may inhibit you.
Chuck does like to grouse about things, but I can understand this terror because any restriction in breathing is very frightening.
