Oh my goodness what a wonderful poem. Beautifully written; it captured my emotions. A feeling of deep sadness unless one hears the inner man speaking words of comfort. Great job.

Sweet words of comfort (paraphrasing-- vs pasting!) road made for driving--if you get lost let me steer--startling segue to imagery of thunder and lightning.

This is a poignant poem of someone who is grieving for their loss. I take it the lost one is the protagonist and then I wonder, could it be God? So I am ambivalent here. Clarification would cheer me. LOL, The rhyming and lilt are very pleasing.

Hello Ralf, thanks for the excellent review and allow me to explain. The protagonist is the lost one, speaking to a loved one through a poem to give them comfort in their loss. Thanks once again!

Why are you crying? I am here...

I wish I have a friend like that who is always there to comfort me. I don't remember when was the last time I cried ...

This is a poem of unconditional love... as you are always there.
Thank you for sharing.

In my mind and heart is the belief that the best gift that you can give to someone is your presence when it is most needed and appreciated. When someone you care about is alone and in need of reassurance, a strong and silent shoulder to lean on and to cry upon. Your being there can mean everything.

What a comforting poem and comforting message . In time of grief it's so nice to know someone is there to listen or just be there with you. No advice, no stories about other people grieving, just being a quiet guy. (Gal) listening.

Great job, Quiet Guy. This is an encouraging piece of spiritual poetry that is very en vogue on the site right now. I think it speaks to universal themes, and has a very comforting message for those who have ever had weary or difficult times. Good use of rhyme throughout the work. I appreciate your focus on the near and approximate rhymes of a single word/sound "tears/near/fears/dear". I think you have a strong chance of winning this contest. Best of luck.

Loss and Loneliness are two dangerous problems, especially for the elderly like me. What a wonderfully written poem.

Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day, and God bless.

This is a lovely poem that just exudes comfort and love! I really enjoyed it. I wish I had someone say that to me in years past when I was hurting over something. It is really a beautiful sentiment, and I personally can picture it being a message from Jesus, delivered through a caring person.
Thank you for sharing!
