Ciao poet!
A good use of the words that rhyme spread -thread to describe this phenomena.
The ha ha line sums up well the felt feeling that emerges when reading the first two descriptive lines.
PS: curiosity .. I went to see if I could find a pic without the ugly writings and I couldn't believe I found an article on actually Walden Pond which is your poem's title..

Your poem was a great read but it is also interesting and informative
I'm was disappointed to see it had only two votes with mine for now.
PS2: a great made up word which combines solid (icy )and the sense of peace ( solitude)

Tempeste,
The winner was clearly tops! The second one was also very good. Mine was just OK; it would have been stronger if I had been serious in writing my last line e.g., poet?s solitude
For your info I sponsored the contest. It was fun to read all the entries.

I agree n1and2 are great entries
The two at 3rd place are instead just OKAY ..
Personally I think your poem is better than them.
I did not know you were the ideatore ..
... it?s creative , original
a challenging, format.
Bravo!

Speaks to the soul for me. I have a fear of water -- poor swimmer. Yet I love sitting by ponds, rivers and streams and listening. Artwork and words work in harmony. I wish you well with your entry.

I like your play on words. This is a better construction of your word than others. This word carries a solid meaning. You have a lovely descriptive imagery of just what it looks like. There some who have never had the delightful opportunity of seeing ice like this. You've given them a bit of an experience.

Liz,
Thanks for your support of my invented word post. However, the one that will likely win the contest, which is one I actually proposed, is clearly the best one. Holotician was another good one.

I'm familiar with fractal design so I find the concept of "icy fractals spread" to be a strong visual image. I'm also familiar with Thoreau's Walden Pond, so your new word, solidtude, is very appropriate as a wintry feeling.

Thanks for recognizing my word choices for this contest entry and my invented word. Maybe solidtude will become an entry in the dictionary. LOL

I like these type of poems. Always gets my brain thinking of what the author was thinking while writing this. We all need a little solitude to get that feeling of "solidtude". Thumbs up!
