I would have been like you, but probably would have laughed, then ran! lol. I had to read this to my hubby, because he wanted to know what I was laughing about. This is a brilliant contest entry. I wish you the best of luch. :) Sandra

Thank you, Sandra. My best memories of my husband are ones we were laughing with each other. Sometimes things would happen and we'd just laugh. I am so happy I have these special memories and I can still laugh. Thank you so much for enjoying my moments of joy and terror. Smiles to you!

Oh my goodness! Poor Mike! Poor you! Poor disposer! We just throw away greens and don't dare grind stuff even egg shells for fear of THAT happening. I wish there were grinders that would go to the chute into the yard to make compost!
Thanks for sharing a tense moment that turned into something you all could laugh about! Enjoyed your food descriptions!
Best wishes in the contest!

The days of catering were some of our best. We were together and Mike was just beginning to get sick. I am so blessed to have shared them with him before the many years of pain came. Thanks for reading and enjoying. It was a huge disposal system but grinding all day got the best of it and us I guess. Smiles to you!

Well, Mike must have been a kind and loving man, because I might have drowned you in the green slime. LOL. No, not really. It's just so amusing that fiascos like this always seem to get funnier with time. Thanks for sharing.

Definitely! I can guarantee you he saw little humor at the moment. I still don't know why I flipped the switch because I knew he wasn't done, but my brain said to do it. You notice I didn't get real close to him for fear of retaliation. Thanks for stopping by and putting a smile on my face. Here's one for you too!

I just learned something today that you don't get notified of stories I write for blind contests - not even after the contest is over. I won first place today with Up, Up and Away. And a few days ago I won first place with "The Corridors of My Mind." and a few others. If you are interested (no pressure) I can let you know when contests end or else you can check my portfolio if you are interested. Smiles to you again my friend.

Yes, please let me know after your contests. All the years I've been around here, I didn't know what either.

Good morning! today, I am challenged to blend two fairytales into one - thought I'd have my friend Frankie tell the story. My imagination should be on overload. Have a great day. Smiles to you!

This is horror story for the one who got slimed, but I'm still laughing. I can't imagine my husband would have had some trouble in finding the humor. The St Patrick dinners sounds delicious. I love St Patrick parades in New Orleans. They threw potatoes and cabbages and onions from the floats and the so drunk for stopping at every corner to drink green beer. It was a fun parade.

Yes, it most definitely was, but we did laugh throughout the years at his expense of course. Our lives were filled with laughter at ourselves or something else. Thank you for reading and for the review. Smiles!

I think I would have run too. LOL My second son, I have four, is a Chef and often does large buffets for wedding, High School reunions and such. Even a few for University of Missouri. I understand that one needs humor. He often laughs, now, at situations that have raised up at the time, but at the time, with his temper, not so much. LOL I enjoyed reading your contest entry. I wish you the best of luck.

Thanks Barbara - When things got "hot" in the kitchen, Mike could be less than charming as well, but in the end when we went home our laughter was still intact. I owned the catering business for 15 years until Mike and my mother needed my full attention. It was good to me. Thanks for reading and reviewing. Always enjoy your comments. Smiles to you!

This is a very funny sorry. I could picture everyone. I did avocado filling for half of my traditional Easter deviled eggs one year. They did not go over well.

You wrote "in tack" where I think you meant "intact."

Susan, Thank you for reading, reviewing, and enjoying my story. I appreciate the suggestion and I fixed it immediately. I didn't care for the avocado either but they requested it. Thanks again and smiles to you!

You are welcome. I liked the avocado.

Very good. Maybe consider shortening or tightening up this sentence though, "Greenlee, a local manufacturing company, offered my corporate catering business the opportunity to serve their international visitors and the company's entire personnel at a St. Patrick's Day celebration feast."

Suggested edit- "A local company had offered my catering business the chance to serve their international visitors and the company's entire personnel on St. Patrick's Day."- or something like this.

Where I live was a big manufacturing area and corporate catering was different than normal catering. Guess it still runs in my blood though it was years ago. You're a tough cookie to please my friend, but I will continue to try. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

BA,

Yeah, I worked in the food industry for MANY years and it's amazing what can go on behind the scenes - that the food EATERS have no clue about... and have no need to know about. hahaha This was fun and entertaining. Also well written. Thanks for the smile.

Thanks so much Robyn. We always ran a tight ship and received good marks from the Health Department. But luckily we could see humor in our work and made many memories. The business gave my children their work ethics and a good foundation to be who they are. Appreciate the kind review. Smiles as always.
