Everything seems to further increase her risk. I don't blame her if she's worried. What is the best course, at this time? Certainly, isolation when plausible, along with all the other cautionary things and I might suggest a foray into meditation and 'mind over matter'. I know, 'easy to say' but why not?

Hi Liz,
It sounds like Corona-Bologna is wreaking havoc on poor Lauren, as if the Multiple Sclerosis wasn't already quite enough. The repetition of
"Which further increases her risk as regards Corona." is effective in getting your point across. It also highlights your frustration.
We'll be praying for her.
Hugs,
Kimbob

This is too heartbreaking for words.
I hate cliches, but damned if you do and damned if you don't. The odds are so bad for either course of action that it almost becomes irrelevant which one she chooses. But of course, it's all a matter of which demon to fight first. Does she really have a choice?
Sending prayers.

That is a tough call. To me it would be better for her to be super cautious in her efforts to avoid getting the Virus than to risk the vaccine, at least at this time. I hope the intravenous infusions will help her. judi

I'm sorry you all are having to deal with such a dilemma. I'm not a doctor and surly don't know the right answers, but masks and an isolation from others has proven to be the best course of action for starters. Wishing Lauren the best! And you too, Mom!

Hmmm. This is so frustrating. I, too, have several auto-immune disorders and a malfunctioning liver as a result. One doctor says I should not get a vaccine with a weakened immune system...the liver specialist says I absolutely am better off GETTING the vaccination...because getting COVID with an autoimmune compromised diagnosis is MUCH worse than protecting oneself from COVID and dealing with the (Not-live) viral vaccines. After spending five hours yesterday and today attempting to schedule at a massvax location and pulling my hair out every time the site crashed I finally called "211" and they put me on a list to keep me in the queue and assured me they'd call as my name moved up the list and more vaccine became available...
I opted for that because (a.) It's going to be minimum of two weeks they said before I'd reach a chance at scheduling a first dose and (b.) That ensures me the OPTION (if I do get a call) to do more research and speak to more professionals about my best decision... Side note---Mass. is so screwed up in their sign up process I'm aggravated beyond all reason! I wish your daughter well... I pray there is clear guidance for her to make her decision. I'd say have her get on the waiting list (as I did)--and perhaps (LIKELY IN FACT!)---she will be called for a date three weeks or more out form here...when she's done with her current IV treatment. --Karenina

Honored...the retired RN in me is very interested in advocating for your daughter! (Not to mention I think Lauren's mom rocks!)--K

I'm telling you, the moon was in the seventh house or something when we happened upon one another! It's freakazoid how many ways our lives intersect!-- Another coincidence? My very best friend from eleven to 33 was Lauren... she had Spina Bifida--her parents took her on a vacation to the Bahamas when she was 33. She slipped with her crutches while disembarking a day cruise and impaled her heart. (and mine)---I still miss her!--- She was a Lauren Marie... what is your Lauren's middle name? God bless her for choosing nursing as a career!--K

If I'd had my way Lauren's middle name would have been MARIE!

Vaccines can be tricky things. To obtain a full risk assessment takes about ten years of development.Ten years that we just don't have available at the moment.

I am so sorry to learn about your dear daughter's illness and your quandary. This is the dilemma everyone is facing even being in the pink of health. The doctor should have the final say after examining her thoroughly. One has to be careful and follow the precautions even after taking the shot. my blessings are with your daughter for her speedy recovery.

This is a something to be concerned about. I wish there were answers. A lot of us are facing quandaries. At my age, I could die, but I've always avoided vaccines since I lost a child from one. My son, the chiropractor, says don't take it. It's not safe. Others say it is safe. You need to get it.

A shitshow circle. Sorry to hear of her troubles, but troubles isn't the right word for it. Sorry to hear of this shitty had she was dealt. If only resources were out toward the right things in this country. I,myself, will not take the vaccine under any circumstances, personal choice to me.
