Hurray for people who are open to new opportunities after retirement. The verse you cited about the play is worthy of Dorothy Parker. She must have had memorable experiences working at the Getty Museum, and she was really privileged to do all the traveling she did. You give an excellent biography of Joan, and this collection of reflections on her life will provide so many memories for her family. Great work. judi

This is a neat send up for JoanE which brings the readers back to the beginning. She definitely put her all into the pleasure writing as she did her career prior. Nice job, Robyn.

Thanks, Bill!
BTW, I tried to read your 3/5/3, but couldn't get past that pic - it looked a little -- naughty -- to me. I'm so sorry. I did think your piece was fine. (I know, I know - I'm a prude.)
-
The art is of a butchered Indian king hauled around by British invaders. I gave the image a female description. The naughty is between you and the artist I guess.
-
Okay. Thanks - I'll try again. I admit I'm weird.

You did a great job writing this work for our beloved JoanE. Reading your powerful lines I feel a little closer to her life, inspiration, and loves. This is a testimony to lasting friendships in our FS community.

This is a lovely tribute to Joan and I am so glad to learn more about her. I didn't know her that well but do remember some of her works and her reviews. She touched many lives with her poetry which I'm sure made an
impact, which is why she will be honored and remembered.
Thanks for sharing this.

Isn't that cool? To think we can touch each other in this way? Thanks, Nancy!

You can look at retirement as an end to something or the beginning to something else. I'm glad she found the beginning, as I hope others also find that. We were blessed with her and her legacy will live on.

This is a very good explanation of a member who has passed away. I was not familiar with her, but I have read many memorials here about her and yours adds much knowledge to the former information. I see how everyone loved her work and mourn with you.

Dear robyn, thank you for all the information you shared in this tribute to Joan. I never knew that she had received the honor of a poet laureate. It matters not that it was just for some special group; for me, she was just a special friend.

Excellent! I enjoyed it but felt your Asterisks weren't needed and as far as I believe you should use 3 like so: * * * Could it be that as you used one at the end there's more to follow. Although this is honouring Joan, maybe, you could create another chapter imaging her in a kind of life she's never had.

Thanks, Daniel. Your note re asterisks is definitely true in prose, but this is a simple essay. I probably should add the two extra stars at the end, but I'm really not gonna bother with it. Most folks here don't know that rule. *smile* I follow it a lot in my stories and chapters, though. Thanks!

This was an amazing lady. Thank you for sharing this tribute with us. My husband and I visited the Getty Museum in Los Angles a few years ago. It's an amazing place. Again, thank you for sharing.
