I enjoyed this poem. I really like the line "and keep my candle burning?" after bidding the farewell to your friends. It shows that it's important to keep memories of those long gone alive.

This sounds like a final wish from a dying man to his friends and or family. I'm not sure if this is someone you know, or just a thought about what someone might think who is dying, but seems to look into a person's heart.

It's actually based on my pain from losing my 18-year-old son and then eight months later my wife.
