It's five stars but should be six. Sorry, we run out of them so soon.
Your magnificent dialect throughout this story is stellar. The dialogue is also in that category. I see such a grand imagination that is weaving this tale and commend you for your steady work. I am truly impressed.
A lovely story.

Tommy obviously feels he's got information to share with Peter Allen. You've written the initial conversation between Heather and Tommy very well, realistic and emotional.
What was it about her, she wondered, that could inspire such love.- liked that line. Great chapter, well told, sorry I've not got a 6 left.
cheers,
valda

Thank you so much for this review. Not to worry about the lack of stars. It is what is said that is important to me.

This work has reached the exceptional level

I cannot decide if you are going to leave things as a "suicide" or more is to come. Heather did have the love of two good Toms. Interesting chapter and well written.

I think Allen is leaving his options open for the time being. Many thanks for this six-star review. It is greatly appreciated.

This was a very endearing scene -a couple totally honest with each other forming a firm and steady bond. I did have little difficulty following their slang but it was realistic. And I think this is the first chapter without the presence of the lawyer...

Thank you for reviewing. Yes, Allen took a break this time but he will be back next time.

-A good image to set the scene,
and the chapter is very good.
-It flowed smoothly and the
discussion between Heather and
Tommy was very good, and also
very revealing.
-It is understandable that Heather
would be upset from the memories,
but Tommy was there for her, and
they have had a good life together,
and that is the best way for them to
have reached the conclusion they
did about speaking with Peter Allen-together.
-I am glad they are, and I look forwared
to knowing more about the story.

I thought you had a powerful scene here with these two pouring their hearts out to each other about their involvement in this mysterious murder many years ago. The voices here were taught with emotion and as we overhear their love for each other, their pain at having witnessed the parts of this thing from different perspectives, and their trembling before telling the lawyer what they know, we get a glimpse into their souls. Wonderful honest language too with all the colloquialisms there to give it a deffinite time and place estory

I almost missed this chapter because I didn't get a notice. That happens sometimes. I am impressed with the honest and trust this couple has with each other. I'm eager to see how their meeting goes with Peter. Very natural conversation, and great imagery.

That will be revealed on Sunday! Yes sometimes the auto alert doesn't kick in. Many thanks for not missing it. I try to stick to posting on Wednesday and Sunday, fairly late on in those days in my time anyway.

Mesmerizing chapter. Part of the story told at last - but not all of it. You've still left Tommy's part to be told to the lawyer in the morning.
For some reason, in the mill scene, Tommy Bache struck me as a man of few words, yet this chapter opens with quite a speech from him. Of course, he had a lot to say to his wife, and proved himself thoughtful and caring. What a nicely drawn and sympathetic character.
And Heather has quite the naughty sense of humour. A nice touch in a very satisfying chapter.

Thank you for this review. I think people often come over as being different when you see them in their own homes.

At last, Peter Allen seems to be getting somewhere. You describe a loving relationship that seems to be unbreakable, even on the crumbling foundations of past events. The easy familiarity between husband and wife, and the mutual respect and love are depicted with sensitivity.

This novel full of surprises. Suddenly, the threads are kept carefully separate. If one new thread is started, previous ones are let fall by the wayside to give the reader the opportunity to concentrate on the new one. I am unsure as to whether this is the way to build up the richest story. Time will tell.
