Katherine's boys are very athletic...I wondered if they ever think of their dad....possibly every once in a while. She never really mentions him; if I remember he passed away and she is a widow.

Seems Katherine and the coach are entering a buddy relationship. Six months after hubby died? Seems about time she moves on to other enjoyment. The coach appears to like to spend time with Katherine, and the boys. Self-interest throughout.

We see this couple dancing the dance of flirtation here, as they tease each other while putting up the boxes in the rooms, and also when they play football and she falls into his arms. The dialogue continues to be nice and realistic, full of sense of humor that dilineates the characters. estory

Loved this, Barbara. I wish I had a sixth star to award! As someone who is "height challenged", I got a real kick out of the exchange between Gabrielle and Katherine regarding her height. Little touches like that make a story so relate able. Thank you for sharing your work. Best regards from a not so incredible shrinking woman.

A lovely chapter. It's great that you've reintroduced the mystery of the dogs sensing something is up. Also some nice teasing between Katherine and Gabriel, without him being as pushy as he can be.
One small thing in the very first sentence:
"Early afternoon Gabriel adjusted Reggie's bib..." I think there's a word or something missing. How about "It was early afternoon when..." or, "In the early afternoon, Gabriel..."
Great news on putting in your retirement papers! More time for your writing will help to feed your soul.

I feel with every chapter the two adults are getting closer and closer. This sentence made me laugh: '
"Sometimes I'm five feet two and a few times I've been measured at five feet and one and a three quarter inches. It depends which doctors' office measured it."
