It would seem that these two people know more about Tom Warburton than any of the others. The inquest aside, what is in their minds need not be in any files. Peter Allen will probably be pleased and able to put the information to good use.

Thank you for continuing to review this reward-expied chapter. I am most grateful.
Comment from Pearl Edwards
A lot of information in this chapter told through Tommy talking to himself as he puts the tractor away at the end of day. And Peter's reminisce in the bath, and of course painful memories brought up for Heather. Well told, cheers

hi
sorry I have been gone for a while again...life sometimes has a way of sending me down the farm track of fallow fgeilds and new crops.
Ah..I love tractors...I would give this a six just for the tractor desriptions alone...but of course the rest of it deserves some recognition as well:-)

-A good image of the tractor,
and interesting chapter.
-We learn a bit more about Tommy
and how he has a custom of talking
to himself. It's probably a good way
for him to figure things out.
-We learn a little more about the farm, too.
-Meanwhile, Allen is relaxing and reminiscing
about practicing law and waiting for the verdict.
-Finally, we get to Tommy and Heather.
-They have a very nice meal, and the pies
sound delicious! Tommy tries jogging her
memory about Allen, but she doesn't
recollect it until he mentions the package
that had been sent years ago.
-It had to have been a painful
memory then and now.
-Then, you provide a good cliffhanger,
but I see the next part has been posted!
-Well done.

I thought it was a great chapter, the suspense is building, and the mystery is deepening. The opening scene where Tommy remembers discovering the body of Hettie was full of sharp details of the body snagged on the bushes and it brought us back to that horrible moment and also the questions of who dunnit. I also the liked how you manuevered the conversation of Tommy and his wife into the revelation of that letter between Capt. Allen, the investigating lawyer, and Heather, during the war. She goes pale there; a great little detail that makes us wonder what was in that letter. The mystery is unfolding petal by petal here, intricate and well crafted. Nice job with this. estory

Kudos to you, for a well written submission, and for forcing me to look up a word (chivvied) that I had not encountered before. Your sentence was such that I was able to figure out the definition, but I'm curious when I come across a new word so...thank you for furthering my education as well as providing entertainment.
Wishing you good health and happy writing.

Many thanks for this glowing, six star review. The number of words of 'English' that are not common to both US and UK culture never ceases to amaze me. I am happy to have furthered your education. Lol

The story of this novel continues to flow smoothly, and the character count is widening satisfactorily. That, along with good character development, provides a richness to the project that makes the read well worthwhile.

I loved the historical theme, being a history-lover myself, so I appreciate the research you've done for this! There were one or two double-spaced areas throughout, which is easy enough to change.
I liked the Story So Far, as it helps set the scene without wasting too much space to be able to tell the story. Capturing accents is a tricky task, but I feel you took up the challenge with relish! I think this is a lovely piece!

Thank you for this review. Would you be good enough to let me know why you thought it only worth four stars. This is the lowest award this book has ever achieved, and yet you say this is a lovely piece. Something is not adding up here. Maybe it is a mistake. That sometimes happens.
Comment from Carol Hillebrenner
Done another good job of advancing the story, although the dialect is rather tough for someone in the middle of the U.S. Looking forward to your next chapter.

This chapter is so well developed and colorful; specifically Tommy Bache and his monologue, as well as the conversation between Tommy and his wife. Again, as previously, the strong descriptions of the settings are movie set worthy.
You know you're doing something right when the reader (me) does not want the chapter to end.
