Congratulations on your prize for this lovely and elegant poem--powerful message--I can construe a dual meaning--helping the other and oneself. Cheers. LIZ

This fifteen-syllable poem, Awakenings, has the proper syllable count and notes that optimism is catchy and much needed.

'Awakenings', is short succinct and very much to the point. With a minimum of words, this talented poet has told it as it is. To me this is a six, but sadly I've run out of them. Good luck with the contest! My fingers are crossed for you.

This is lovely, Marilyn. And it's so timely. Hope is something that we all need right now.
I never really thought about it, but candles in windows do awaken hope in others. At Christmas, they signify the hope in the birth of Jesus. At other times, they signify the hope that if found in a loving home. The very sight of candles in windows make me feel warm.
Your syllable count is perfect. I like the contrasts that you use between the gloom of darkness and the awakening of light.
Well done. I wish you luck in the contest.

So very true. It often takes just one kind word or even a smile to help someone having a bad day. You may not even know you had an impact. Makes one want to always be kind. You never know what someone is going through. Well done.

It's hard to find hope sometimes, especially with everything going on today. We just have to remember nothing is forever, this too shall pass. Your poem is well-written, very thought provoking and your artwork is perfect for your poem.

The only role we truly play as witnesses to hope is to tell people they can purchase hope, at the cost of decision, but God will do the rest, if they are willing. A beautifully written 15 syllable post dear Melissa, blessing and good luck, Roy
