This is a lovely tribute to Joan E. I like your imagery "Through earth's perimeter, into the clouds." Her kindnesses will live on through people's gentle memory of her. There clearly will be a void for many: "This site is orphaned now, we lost its star." Nicely expressed.

Thank you much. Joan was incredible; I've known her for years on the site and will miss her very much. A huge loss for the site, indeed. We will all miss her rare kindness.

I'm so glad I looked through this book one more time! I am thankful that you posted this! You described Joan so well. I'll be sure to include this for Bob. Thank you for this lovely remembrance.

We met ions ago in the world of rhyme (eons)

Thank you so much for the great review! I was deeply saddened by Joan's death. I wasn't even aware that she was ill. She was one my favorite people on FanStory - and I will miss her a lot.

I'm so glad you knew her! I only got to know her in the last few years. 💖

We "met" on the site at 10 least years ago or more. She was a true joy - as a reviewer, a friend, an aspiring influence. By the way - I don't see her profile anymore on FS. She is not an eternal member. I you communicate with her husband Bob - maybe you can member eternal flame certificate? This way her profile will always be available with a candle burning. He probably may want it.

Thank you for suggesting. I'm sure that Bob let Tom know about Joan's passing. I guess at the time, Tom must have offered the eternal flame. I don't know what it costs. I can mention it to Bob. He liked the book and shared it with her friends.
reply by the author on 13-Mar-2021
Yes, speak to Bob. Tell me that without Eternal Flame no one will have access to her portfolio. Bob and Joan were quite wealthy and I don't think it's cost. Just putting my 2 cents down, Helen, I think everyone Joan and people here would like to read her portfolio.

Have you talked with him before? You met Joan a lot longer than me. I only met her two years ago. I can message you his email address.

Sorry, I thought my reply went through, but I see that for some reason it didn't. I that same day. I never met Joan or Bob personally. When said I "met" Joan many years ago on site, I meant virtually. FanStory is my international family, though personally I met very few. I did get your link to Joan's profile through PM, because you said she was in your buddy list, and that's the reason a profile remained. Thank you very much. Joan E. will always be a shining influence for me, and an example to follow. She was exceptional.

This is so very sweet. I've only been on the site for two weeks, so I don't know who this person is, but it's obvious she was loved and admired by many.

All the best to you.

I did not know! I am sorry for her loss. We were not close, but we often read and reviewed one another's work and I always respected her skill and the generosity of her editorial suggestions. Beyond this site, my condolences to her family and friends. Gone too soon... Lovely memorial!--Karenina

Thank you. That was a shock to me. I didn't know she was seriously ill, nor did most on the site. She mentioned the words "dealing with medical issues" in a reply to a review, so explain her occasional absence from site, but I had to idea she had been battling liver cancer for a year. The last poem written for her when she was still alive was by Roy (Royowen), and he said she was already in a comma. She was the sweetest, the most polished, polite and kind person. She lived in Malibu, Ca. My condolences go out to her husband Bob.

I'm reading others and this came as a shock to many who knew her! Liver cancer? The poor woman! She will be missed by even her casual readers, like myself. Karenina

This is a great tribute to Joan, EM. Although poignant, I enjoyed reading it and learning more of this special lady. Your words come from your heart. Good job with the smooth flow and good rhymes. But most of all, thank you for a fine tribute to Joan.

Good by-->Goodbye
Respectfully, Jan

EM,

These words are lovely and I know she would be so pleased with all the responses I have seen so far. I'm still searching to find the right words. It's a difficult loss. Thank you!

This poem speaks confidently in faith and with hope to meet the refined, polished, gentle and kind lady across the gate as you believe her presence is not far, though she has left you all and gone to the clouds; well said, well done; thanks for sharing this. ALCREATOR

Such a beautiful tribute to one wonderful poetess: "Why did you have to go? A cruel twist of fate -
This site is orphaned now, we lost its star.
Good by, my friend, we'll meet across the gate,
your presence and your luminance are never far." Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writings

I know, I agree. She was great. It's so sad. We've lost some great writers here. Dean, Michael, and another I'm forgetting. A great poet.

This was really well done. Really well done.

    Have a great day :)

We also lost Brooke (adewpearl, Alvin Ethington, Rose (Just2Write) and many more whose names I don't recall at the moment.
But Joan's loss really hit me hard.
reply by GregoryCody on 02-Feb-2021
We lost Brooke?? Oh no that's awful. So many great writers.
reply by the author on 03-Feb-2021
Brooke died in May of 2019 if I am not mistaken. She was battling aggressive MS for several years, and I guess it caught up with her. I was on a 3 year hiatus from site when that happened.

So sad. I'm glad you're back. I go through dry times here haha. Often I enter a silly prompt here or there to win member dollars. So I can promote serious pieces. But I just promoted the Chasing Crazy one and it didn't get many reviews. When I was more active on the site I would get more. How get back to it I guess! :)
