You ever click the "VOTE" section here and spend time reading thru poems that make you wish someone would submit one that doesn't make you want to go wash dishes instead ? Your contest entry is that one. I really enjoyed it.

Thanks for the nice review. I have always loved music that touched my heart, made me want to dance with a pretty girl, made me want to sing along with it, too. It is so sad what has become of "music" now, but stay tuned to the "oldies" - I guess that is what we oldies do! Hey, I got a 2nd place for this one. In Ringo's words, "I get by with a little from my friends..."! Best regards, Reese

There is A LOT of noise out there posing as music, isn't there? My mom used to say my heavy metal was noise... I'm kinda glad she can't here some of the stuff today... ugh! ;) A great kyrielle for the contest today as there are so many of different flavors -- thanx for sharing and best of luck at the polls! ;)

I remember those days when music made us all dance. I'm a musician, so I can appreciate reminiscing the days back when. Not only did music make us dance, but the words made sense. The songs were clean.
Anyway, you did great for the poem. Met the requirements. Easy flow.
Great job.

Sometimes a "prompt" makes us think of something we had not considered, but do care about. I appreciated the chance to put my feelings into words. Then, the bonus, that people like you related. It is always great to know that I have company! Thanks!

I remember when the local dance was all the rage, now so much rage and bad language is seen as the music of the day... it raises stress levels rather than soothing them. Your rhyming couplets are well-constructed to carry the message.
(It sounds like you are a similar 'vintage' to me with your music references at the top.)

I'm told I'm still a kid by my wife. She was so much younger when I married her. But, yes, I am 504 in dog years (makes my people years seem relatively small). Until the COVID, I was in a group called the American Idles (we are all retired) and we sang old country and rock at local rest homes. Gave us a chance to relive and celebrate OUR great music entertaining others. Those older folks loved it. I miss those days. Anyway, thanks for your nice review. Always great to hear from you.

Dancing to good music was something we took for granted back then.
