I wonder if my mother knows I'm godless, dumb and gay? - I don't know about your mother Craig, but this line made me chuckle. I think the world of mainstream media certainly has gone mad and they are trying to take us all with them LOL Loved this one,
cheers,
valda

I really loved this poem, Craig.

The rhyming scheme and beats were a pleasure on the tongue to read.

The tone, light, witty, with an intellectual sharp edge.

The reader is exposed to exasperation on a tongue and cheek truth, that when it boils down to it... it can be more fruitful and benefiting to sanity to have a conversation with an alpaca than some people. The climate of exchanging information, ideas, or opinions is broken somewhere.

I try to tell myself things have improved over time. At least I'm not going to be burned at the stake for witchcraft for knowing the effects of lavender. But it tiring to see the worst of humanity amplified as it conglomerates and feeds.

Thoughts along the way.
I wonder if my mother knows I'm godless, dumb and gay?
(this was a giggle out loud line, as I appreciated the sense of name calling. The use of dumb gives the combining that effect that it is a negative connotation to be without a god or attracted to the same sex, though the intent is that to be any is an insult a mother should be ashamed to learn.)

although I really do suspect they're hanging out for food.
(another giggle out loud line, with a sense of the animals that are on your side, really might just be enjoying the meal and company moreso than caring about the other matters discussed. But ... that's okay.)

and recognise reality is not all white and black.
(The more you think about anything, the more complicated and tangled it gets, where things traced back, get muddled and twisted... and the root of a problem is often not connected to the symptom that everyone wants to attack or defend. Reality is like sitting in the back seat of a car, trying to drive by pulling strings that go out the window and come back into the front, and pretending you have control of the wheel. Some things, maybe... and more things, not so much.)

and trying to ignore the utter pettiness of man.
(sigh. It's exhausting to keep track of a few things let alone most things. Especially if it's humans behaving badly for spite.)

You never disappoint with your reviews, Turtle. They are always so thoughtful. I'm especially chuffed you appreciated the bit about the animals having their own reasons for being good listeners... but yes, that's OK :)

Thanks for the great comments and the very kind rating. Cheers, Craig

You got my goat Craig
From misagonist ( if that is the right word)
To another. I like Robins.
Not Harold Robins.
They come and quietly watch me working in the garden.
I love your poem it bashes the head on the nail.
Made me what cats do, with satisfaction.
Anyway nouns are just as bad , that's why i forget them.
:-))Z.

Robins are lovely, as are most birds. I'm sure the magpies and crows which spend so much time on my place seem lovely to other magpies and crows, but I'm not so fond of them. Not that I'd do them any harm.

Thanks for the fun review, and the lovely shiny stars :)

Hello Craig!
Difficult to "avoid the utter pettiness of man" when it seems to be everywhere these days! Your ponies, sheep, goats and alpacas are the company I would/do choose to keep when it comes to politics!
I thorougly enjoyed your poetic offering. I have had quite a few adjectives thrown my way as well. Had to go to the "urban dictionary" to understand a few when I simply stated to a "friend" that I held no respect for a particular political candidate. Whew! Such is life these days!

Thank you for sharing!

I think my little collection of four-legged friends are for more informed on matters of politics than most humans, Diane. They know it's all rubbish ;-) Thanks for the great comments, Craig

There are some folks that seems to think the world and, yeah, relationships have to involve politics... please COUNT ME OUT!! I think I would rather converse with the alpacas and just hang out for food! ;) A great one for the contest here, Craig, and definitely one for a big smile! ;) Thanx for sharing and best of luck in the contest! ;) Yvette

Haha, I've had kitties that were nicer and smarter than some people. Your contest entry reads well with good rhymes and great imagery. Your words are true of this crazy. biased world of today--except for those that attack you.
Best wishes.
Respectfully, Jan

Craig,
I agree that the world has gone crazy with conspiracy theories and the like.
I like your zoo of animals. Maybe it is easier to deal with animals than humans.
Good luck in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy

You certainly have a good feel for meter and your rhyme is very well done. The subject is a look into what plagues society and I'm not talking about Civid19. This is very well done, Craig. Nancy:)

Hi Craig... great job on this rant!! You did a stellar job on all the parts except one line... the communist line sounds off, but maybe it is a regional dialect. Your points, examples and energetic write is going to win... I just know it!! Great job.

Ha! Facetious and funny poem about the way so many people are. The rhymes are fun and pleasant, and the rhythm is good. It flows nicely and has a great topic that many, on all sides of every issue, will likely relate... Although I'm trying not to put everyone in the same group. :-) Hugs.
