Beautiful entry for the 20 line poetry contest. Your free verse is excellent, and you include so much visual appeal. Lovely detail of the cattails camouflaging the white heron. In your poem we see the area coming alive, as a new season comes to the marsh. Best of luck in the contest. judi

Thank you for your kind review. I was not sure if it was an egret or heron since the photographer did not specify. Bet you are right.

Such a lovely nature free verse! I feel like each stanza is like a haiku giving us a different snapshot of this wildlife area and I loved the ending where the egret takes off to the "joyful heart of sky!" Hope you do well in the contest!

Your free form is very descriptive and has a nice flow. I think it will do well in the 20 line poem contest. The gradual transformation from the frosty time to Spring is portrayed well with the description in your poem. Good luck in the contest.
