I love your delightful memoir about your experience at Nicks. It sounded like a fun place, and an integral part of the community. I'm so sorry the demographics changed to where the restaurant was no longer needed. It was a rich memory for you, and I'm sure many others. Thanks for sharing,
Rhonda

I really enjoyed this story. it really showed expressed how that phrase don't knock it til you try it really is right. i also feel like the story showed a different aspect of customer service jobs and how hard it can be.

Your wonderful heartfelt story brought a huge smile to my face. I have worked a variety of jobs; factory worker, laborer in a steel mill, crane operator, custodian, computer operator, computer programmer, security guard. I brought one thing to each of these jobs, the determination to work harder than the pay I was getting deserved. Why? Because to me, that someone was willing to pay me for working for them was a blessing, and it kept me from having to beg for what I needed. These women remind me of that same type of mindset. Great write.

When you work harder than you have to, it pays great dividends. When I retired, it took three people to do my job.

This could have been a True story contest entry. I would never have been able to work in a restaurant but Nick's sounds like a place I would have ate at. Very nice job.

What a heart-warming story. It is also a simple story, yet beautifully written. You have such and easy way with words, and it seems to come so naturally. Congratulations, I loved it.

Love this tale of down to earth people and your experience as a restaurant worker, even though it was brief, your words capture the essence of the establishment and the reader feels like she is there. I love the senior waitresses, it adds to the atmosphere of the restaurant.

This is such a neat story that points out this special day that was so eye-opening and instructive. Sometimes great moments may be a waitressing job away.

A great shout out to the hard-working ladies at Nick's. I could relate as I was a busser and later a waitress for not long, but I did learn that seniors love the fish special! Keep writing and telling your stories.

Everyone should have to work as a waiter or waitress before they graduate from high school. People have no idea how hard it can be. At least those senior servers didn't have to deal with drunken slime bags hitting on them! Nice read!
