Oh, Alie lovely piece. I used to put my cats in a bucket when it came 'Show' time and they had to be squeaky clean, that way they could stick their claws into the rim and not my hands, and yes they yowled all the way through the procedure. They glared at me and had they been able I would have worn their displeasure for life as their claws are so sharp.

Yep the one and only!

Your Jim showed such bravado - bathing a cat in the shower? Loved your story! I have dogs (big ones), I bathe them in the shower, but I would not consider closing myself into such a small space with a potentially enraged kitty! Thanks for sharing this story - it made me smile on this gloomy day.
Wishing you good health and happy writing.

LOL!! What a good husband Jim is... he gets an award!! ;) Such a fun bathtime adventure, Alie -- you could write a children's book of yours and Jim's adventures with Tabitha! ;) ;) Thanx for sharing, my lady, the smile was definitely welcome! ;) Yvette

Oh, I'm happy that you let Jim bathe the cat in the shower, Alie. A good scrubbing from head to toe is always good for the kitty. :) Yet, Jim is braver than most. If Tabita had been in an angry mood those back claws would do some harm. Good story, you made me laugh. :)

Hi Alie.
You made a great choice to become the towel handler. It's harder for them to get their claws through the towel. I laughed as I read the story. We had one cat at a time for over 40 years. None of them were fond of showers and they were excellent communicators about it. The only thing harder than "washing" a cat is herding about ten of them. HAHAHA
Entertaining story, and well written.

Having worked in veterinary medicine my entire, adult life, I can appreciate your well groomed, feline tale!
A question, a comment and a suggestion;
Why did Jim clean the shower BEFORE bathing Tabitha?
Jim is a far braver man than I!
I'm not sure that it's ironic, as much as it is apropos that Tabitha chose to groom herself in the sun following her shower.
Thank you for story,
Michael

Hi Michael, that was a great review, oh Jim routinely cleans the shower every Sunday morning, unless he is away. Cleans the shower, then himself but this time he chose to clean shower, clean the cat then himself lol.

Cats hate being wet and there is no need to bathe them as they can wash themselves and do an amazing job of it too. I think it is different for dogs, as they need a good wash every now and then, but they hate being wet too. Water and cats just don't mix! He he he, no wonder your cat was hissing, a fun write, love Dolly x

An enjoyable read. You had the partnership down to a fine art for the role of showering the cat. I had the idea that cats never needed bathing. Our dog has the same woebegone expression when he has his bath!

I hope more people will review your story. I have heard from cat experts that cats do not need baths as they groom themselves but I suppose you can keep the dander down if you do and the air would be healthier for you. You'll have to tell us if Jim becomes the official cat bather from now on.
One typo here:
and that is to let Jim bath her, I have no become (have now become)

Thank you so much Helen for reading, reviewing and your great comments. Ironically, many many years ago when I got my first cat, the vets at the cat hospital advised me to bath her every two to three months to keep as you say the dander down but also for the natural oils they secrete.

Alie,
BUT -- the real question is, do you think Jim will ever attempt anything like that again? Hmmmm... that may be up for debate. *smile* Good luck with that.
--> I have no(w) become a towel person only. Until the next adventure.
Thanks for the smile!
