Yes, you have condensed why we write. It is for our own need and urge to write but it is also to influence others, to cause them to gasp in wonder, delight, or sadness - or to make them smile.

Wendy, sending you smiles back, thank you!

In just a few words, you have expressed every poet's dream...to write a piece that will have a lasting effect on readers. I am not a poet, but would like my fiction to entertain or educate, and be remembered. I wish you the very best in the contest.

It is true we never know who might see and read our work. Who will smile or be encouraged by the the messages we write.

This four-line poem, Poet's Desires, has the proper formatting and sends out the verse to be read by who-knows-who. The who may not matter, as much as the sending and the reading.

Great use of the 1-5-5-9 form and what a unique formatting of the poem. The theme is perfect for a site for writers as you show use our deepest hope in writing is to connect with the readers' souls. Best wishes in the contest!

A very well-written four line poem about being a poet cannot always guarantee everyone will be happy about what we offer, but there will always be someone who can spare a smile when reading our work.
