Very nicely expressed sentiment. My father taught me how to make clay elephants. Check your spelling of patience, and you have an upper case A where it has no purpose. I hope you continue to write with such open emotions.

Thank you for catching those errors. No one has said a word about them until you. I appreciate it a lot! Thank you also for your encouraging words and for reading my poem.

It's hard to proof your own work and I've actually published worse.😁

This poem was a joy to read! It abides by the free-verse poetry contest guidelines and is written quite well! The story is so cute and the message of a mother's love and pride in her son is conveyed perfectly. Thanks for sharing and good luck to you in the contest!

This is an exceptional poem and I love how the elephant is cherished. I Like this verse.....
I gaze at it.
I caress it's lumpy form.
and remember my son.
It is the childhood of a man

Thank you for reading my free verse poem. I appreciate your comments and your time. I really do love my little clay elephant? And all my clay bowls? And the baskets the kids bwove for me in elementary school? And my macaroni necklace!

What a sweet verse this is. A little clay elephant, but so much more in your eyes. I am sure that all of us have things like this around that we do not want to get rid of because of the memories. Thank you for sharing this.

Thank you for your words of encouragement and for reviewing my poem. Nobody understands, especially my adult children, why I insist on keeping these things they made for me when they were little. Thanks again. Hugs.

You are welcome. Guess it is something only a mother understands
