Awesome story!!! It was heart wrenching as the story seemed to reveal that Michael had a short time to live, but still had something left to do. Am I right, was his job to tell his mother that he loved her?
I would like to know who he was talking about when he said ""No! I can't watch them suffer every day. Please help me." Who was it that was suffering?
I learned a new vocabulary word: Lilt. I had never heard this term before. I love learning new words.

Thank you for your kind review. I've lost two children and a grandson and each one was sudden -without that chance to say I love you or goodbye. At the grief meetings, my heart broke every time a parent spoke of sitting by the bedside watching, waiting as their child slipped away. Everyone suffers when they lose a loved one, but I feel the waiting is like rewinding and rewinding the horror. My husband was in a coma for 6 weeks and the agony was beyond words. I wouldn't be able to continue this road called life if I didn't believe that I am blessed to have angels around me. Smiles to you!

Beautifully told! I do agree that there are angels around us even if we don't see miracles happening and even if our prayers are not answered the way we would have liked. Best wishes in the contest!

This is a beautiful story. I too believe that there are angels all around us and we don't know who they are, but they are there. I watch for white feathers all the time which is supposed to signify there is an angel present. So far. I've found a total of three over the years. However, I know they are all around us. Beautiful story. My son passed away at age 35 of a very horrific disease, Huntington's Disease. I was with him nonstop the week he passed away at the nursing home. He was aware of his surroundings right until the end but he was unable to move any body part very much. I was sitting on a chair beside his bed talking to him and my hand was sitting on the bed. I saw him wiggle his fingers to move his hand. It took a little while for him to make it to my hand, then he snuggled his hand under mine so that I was holding his hand. Often I had reached over and held his hand but this was different. It was like this was something important for him to do, to make it to my hand on his own. I believe it was his final goodbye and telling me he loved me in that struggle to reach my hand and then rest it there. He passed away the next afternoon.

I believe with all my heart that angels walk amongst us. My mom used to tell me an angel was saying hello when you found a penny on the ground. So many times when I thought I just couldn't take another step, I'd find a penny. When my 4 yr old son passed and I was so angry, I demanded a sign that he was okay and a tiny blue butterfly landed on my hand. Maybe I'm crazy or maybe I'm blessed. I'd like to think I am blessed. I am honored that you shared your son's story and I do believe he was saying his last good bye. You were blessed too! Thank you for the wonderful review and the six stars. Smiles to you!

This is a beautiful but sad story. It is painful to watch as a mother loses her child. We think it isn't supposed to happen that way. By putting an angel into this story you've eased the pain. I also believer there are angels around us. I've haven't seen ont that I know of but I've experienced their presence.

Yes...I believe it is the only reason I have been able to face the many tragedies of losing my children, grandchildren, husband, and parents. this story was a blend of fiction and non-fiction - guess we always draw from within ourselves when we write. Thanks so much for reading.

Wow, You have had some losses. That is a lot to have to face. I've lost parents and husband and one child. It hurts but without the comfort from Heaven who would be devastating.
