Hi EStory,
Your well crafted free verse prose-poem brings back the bewilderment over the virus ruling our lives.. January 2021 was bleak. The economy tanked and still is suffering. People are still wearing masks even if vaccinated as the risk of viral variants breaking through still looms.
Though provoking work that shows our dependence on data from the scientists figuring out the virus's properties and its ability to mutate.
A political war over the pandemic has confused us and broken trust in our political, medical and education agencies. Misinformation that changes daily is conflicting and confusing. The fact this is indeed a global existence is more prevalent than ever.
Great writing,

Thanks for the excellent review and I am glad you found the piece so thought provoking. What I am indicting here is a society and culture that has turned from faith in God and replaced it with a faith in science and technology. Man's solutions are all flawed, they all have side effects, and the vaccines will prove to be no different. I got mine more for the people around who don't trust in God than for my myself. estory

Hello. I see that you have part two promoted, but I always like to read the first one before reading the second.
This poem accurately describes the beginning of the pandemic. The sadness and fear. I like how you talked about how everything slowed and stopped but ended it with the constant movement of data streaming.
Well done!

Thanks so much for the excellent review and your wonderful comments supporting this piece. I am glad I was able to capture something of the emotions roiling in society after the pandemic hit. estory

It does remind one of the Apocalypse. No one around. Every place dark and closed. We have sure lived through a rough time. It's unfortunate that it's probably going to get worse before it gets better.

Thanks so much for the excellent review and for your wonderful comments supporting the piece. It does seem to have gotten a bit of a better reception than I anticipated. But I am glad it captured this sense of isolation and despair we all feel through this epidemic. estory

You have summarized very well the time of confusion we share;"Telecommuting and teleconferencing and remote education and online shopping experiences flash on the screens in the boxes through the wires in an endless data stream" Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writings.

Thanks for the excellent review and it is always great to hear what works well specifically. I think that line is maybe my favorite in the piece as well. I am glad it captured this remote sense we all feel through the epidemic. estory

I'm glad you've started a new poetry series. Robin is starting a book about the pandemic and she is talking about publishing a book. Anyone can add a chapter to it.
It is a tech Apocalypse. Technology has made years worth progress in a few months. I don't see we ever will go back to the old normal again.
Well done.

Thanks for the excellent review and your interesting perspective on the piece. You got that tech revolution, that tech invasion of all our lives through this. But my take is that tech is making life worse, not better. estory

Tech is making life worse. It is not a new idea. Have you seen movie "Wall-E"? Dystopia is quite a popular idea for our future. I listen to AI podcast by Lex Fridman and he interviewed many famous scientist who think we will self destruct in the near future.

All good poetry is like music, each reader of your poem will dance to the music that they interpret, dancing to a different drum so to speak. This is all true especially if it is an apocalyptical poem like yours. Well done poet.

Thanks for the excellent review, specifically the comments on the rhythm and music of the poem. I wanted to create this monochrome kind of voice, monotone, mechanical, emotionless, to portray this sense of emotion being superceeded by technological connections. estory

I don't think it's the beginning of the end, but rather a new start. I know these are dark days, but people have been through this before in 1918 with the Spanish flu. They got through it and so will we. Thanks for sharing. :)

Thanks for the excellent review and your perspective on the poem. This series will not only be about the epidemic. I hope you don't believe our problems are over when this passes. Worse things than this are on the world's horizon. estory

Just excellent.
I was telling my husband this evening,
that after 2020...nothing would surprise
me.
EMP attack tomorrow morning? Coffee first please...
oops...no electric...set up the grill.
You caught the very strangeness of this all.
I look forward to more!
Blessings...

Hello, estory,
Normally I love a good apocalypse movie or story but not real life pandemic. It's a horrible way to die, plugged in to a respirator and die.alone.
Well done!

Thanks for the excellent review and your words and perspective on the poem. I am glad that I was able to really make these feelings of isolation come alive for you. That it captured the look and feel of the epidemic estory
